In this post I am explaining why our early government, the Articles of Confederation, did not work.  One problem is that we had no head of government.  Another problem was that the states had more power than the central government.  One more was that there was no central court system to solve the states' problems. Since these problems existed, the Articles of Confederation failed and caused the government to meet in Philadelphia.

Before the Constitution there was another set of  rules, The Articles of Confederation.  There were three things wrong with them. One of the things was that Congress had no power. Another thing wrong was that  there was no court. The third and final thing was that there was no ruler over the new nation. That was what wrong with The Articles of Confederation
