On February 1st we conducted a survey to find out who thought the Groundhog would see his shadow and who thought he wouldn't. Well, it was a cloudy day in SE Michigan on Groundhogs Day but according to the news, he DID see his shadow! :( Bummer. Six more weeks of winter.

Every year around the 100th day of school, the kindergartners at our school run a community service project. This year we decided to raise money for Haiti. On the 100th day of school each kinder kid will bring in 100 pennies. We'll do some fun counting activities with those pennies then we will donate them to help the victims of the horrible earthquake in Haiti.
In these pictures you can see us delivering some donation cans to classrooms in the school. We're asking EVERYONE to help Haiti.

Math is so much fun when you can EAT when you're learning! We started out sorting our M & Ms by color then did some addition work. We know that addition uses a "plus" sign that looks like a "t". We know that when you add, you count to find out how many you have ALL TOGETHER. Learning to WRITE the addition sentences with the PLUS and EQUALS signs is a little tricky. So....we'll be doing this over and over again with different things to EAT!

One of our PE teachers invited another elementary school's jump rope team to our school. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of the jumpers. They were really amazing! We worked together to compose this Thank You note. (Check out the cute little jumpropers at the bottom of the note.)

Our F*A*B*U*L*O*U*S secretaries, Mrs. May and Ms. Birdseye, surprised the staff one chilly afternoon with home-made cookies and a hot cup of coffee to go along with it! Yum!
You're the BEST! Thank You!

We took the bus to the Marquis Theater in Northville to see a live production of Pinnochio. The teachers knew the actress playing "Jeremy (yes, Jeremy) Cricket". She came down to us after the show. Great job Kayleigh!

After chasing the Gingerbread Men for a week, we got our final clue: Go to where you eat your lunch. (I'm embedding the slideshow as is but am not completely satisfied with it! I tried to rearrange the photos in better order but ran into trouble so, as I always tell the kids, TRY YOUR BEST. I did and this is what I got!) Enjoy!

Here is a Voicethread of the developing GB Man mystery! It's not as complete as I'd like it to be but...there just isn't enough time in the day! Regardless, we had SO MUCH FUN looking for clues and chasing down those sneaky GB men.
