Our Class Trip This album is powered by BubbleShare - Add to my blog
We went on our class trip to Moose Jaw. After a long and bumpy bus ride, we went to the park to have a picnic and to feed the ducks. We saw male mallard ducks getting a bit cranky with each other. We saw a few female mallard ducks. But we were very happy to finally see some ducklings! They were very tiny! We saw two swans, and we wonder if the swan on the nest has some eggs under her?
We had our picture taken in front of Mac the Moose before we went to the Burrowing Owl Centre.
At the Centre, we learned about raptors. Do you remember the 5 things that birds of prey have to help them hunt their food?
The Great Horned Owl really stared at us. We liked how he could almost turn his head all the way around.
We got to pet Trooper, the Centre's burrowing owl who gets to visit schools in the winter. His feathers felt very soft.
Outside, there were burrowing owls in cages. If you look very closely at the pictures, you may see a couple of burrowing owls just peeking out of their burrows. We were excited to see Huckleberry and Sherman outside their burrows (since we've been watching them on the webcam inside their burrow).
To celebrate Mattesyn and Dawson's birthdays in June, we went to Dairy Queen for ice cream cake. We had huge pieces, but some had room for the few extra pieces that were left!
We would like to thank Alex's dad for driving our bus on the bumpy road. We would also like to thank Mrs. Kemp and Kaeden's mom for being our chaperones.
