The Crimson String Quartet is a band of four stringed instruments - a cello, a viola, and two violins. The cello (played by Alyssa) plays very low notes. The viola (played by Alvin)plays low notes too, but higher than the cello. The violins (played by Audrey and Etienne) play the higher notes. They played some classical songs by Papa Haydn, Beethoven, and some pop songs too like "Here Comes the Sun" by the Beatles and the "Orange Blossom Special". Thank you CSQ for coming to our school to teach us about string quartets.

These last two weeks of school have been very busy! We got ready for Student Led Conferences and practiced with friends. We got prizes for Hoops/Jump for Heart and for the birthday draw. We had Pink Shirt Day as anti-bullying awareness. We also said good-bye to our classmate and wish him all the best of luck in Meadow Lake!

We were lucky this week to have Ken, from the MacKenzie Art Gallery, come to our school. The theme of the exhibit was the Saskatchewan Art Progress Show. We saw different paintings and sketches of artists from the early years of Saskatchewan. Ken talked to us a bit about the different pictures before teaching us some tips of drawing perspective.

Through our account with Mathletics, we participated in World Spelling Day today. We will participate in World Math Day Wednesday and hopefully World Science Day on Thursday. It is neat to see all the different countries we are participating against, but it's more exciting when the computer picks someone in our own class!!

We had a Penny Carnival on Friday to help raise money for the ELKS. For a various amount of pennies, we played different carnival games to win tickets. After the carnival was over, each grade pooled their tickets together to choose a prize box. We ended up with 106 tickets. We chose the box with all the toys. Here is our treasure box of toys we won!

We wrote our play for our school's Christmas Concert this year. We read The Christmas Genie by Dan Gutman, and used his idea to begin our play. But we chose our own wishes and wrote the discussions about the pros and cons of each wish. We wrote our own endings and chose the best parts to make the conclusion for our play. We were surprised how our ending was different than Dan Gutman's! What would you wish if a Genie granted your class ONE wish??

The last few days of school have had many dress up days, our Christmas Concert, and today's activities. Travis and Justin brought us Christmas crackers. We opened our gifts and played with our new toys and games. We had our third annual Intramural Pot Luck Dinner (congratulations Chargers!). And of course, we ate many goodies (thanks Sage, Robyn, and Austin for all the goodies this last week)
