Bengough and surrounding areas lost power during the afternoon of January 23. During that week, we had such nice weather and there was frost on everything. It made all the trees look beautiful, but the power lines were getting very heavy. Unfortuately, the sun didn't melt all the frost away before the winds came. Many lines and poles snapped under the weight, and our area went black. To make things more scary, we also lost phone and cell service.
Our phones were back by Monday afternoon, and most of us had power late Monday night. Thankfully, we all made it through, without any emergencies. Please check out our blog articles to find out what we all did when the power was out.

Since we did not have much luck getting our bean plants to grow, here are the giants we made to measure instead. How are your beans doing in your gardens? Are they growing? Do they have flowers yet?

We were divided up into 5 teams. Miss Gauley made up clues for different places in Bengough. We had to find our clues and then read them to figure out where we were supposed to go next. Some of the places we had to go to were the museum, the Coal Mine park, the campground, the swimming pool park, the rodeo grounds, the Car Wash, and the Last Chance Shoppe. We went shopping at the Last Chance Shoppe too and found many things to buy. The Brown team came in first and got to pick the coldest juice boxes!!

We went to the Health Centre. The Health Centre is a long-term care facility and a doctor's clinic. Dick and Fred showed us what was in the ambulances and what it is like to be on a stretcher. Dr. T. showed us some X-rays. Nurse Debbie showed us how they check our pulse and how casts are made. Lori showed us the kitchen, the laundry, and the activity area. We had some cookies and juice as we met some of the residents.
