What a great day it was today. You all made a colorful start in your clean and dry T-Shirts with a wonderful grade 5 photo. A big thank-you to Mr. and Mrs. Smith and Ms. Matey for making field day a memorable end of year event. We were lucky to escape the rain but still managed to get saturated after the water relays. Playing with the parachute in the wind, a fast paced game of floor hockey and the tarpaulin ball throw were all lots of fun. Carlos and Brady were our champion egg throwers and Ric was our representative in the cream pie contest searching for the M&M’s. It was just as well he lost. Mr. Monteith was the lucky one to have a pie in his face! 5LH Rocks

This week the whole Elementary school is thinking of other activitites to do besides watching TV or playing computer games at home. Thinking of alternative activities is not difficult-why not read a book, ride your bike, play a board game, throw some baskets, play soccer, play a card game, write a letter or just talk to your family! Be creative-you can easily think of something to do besides spending hours just passively watching a screen. Why not try it this week. Write a blog about the activities you have tried instead of watching TV.

Right after the Spring Break holiday we had a fine sunny day playing soccer. With over four hundred fifth grade students from all over Shanghai and one team from Nanjing, the SAS soccer fields were a hive of activity. 5LH joined in the fun with asome winning games and some stiff competition. However the day was about having fun and not so much about winning! Some students had the opportunity to catch up with friends from other schools. However for 5LH the highlight of the day was the Papa John's pizza lunch provided by Mrs. Kielgas. Along with the soda and delicious chocolate chip cookies we had a most memorable day of activity and eating. Thank-you Mrs Kielgas!
