Weasel, by Cynthia DeFelice, is about an 11 year old boy, Nathan, in Ohio in 1839. Most of the Shawnees have been killed or run off the land in OH by men hired by the government. One of these men is nicknamed "Weasel" because he hunts by night and sleeps by day. He's a ruthless man who is now turning on the settlers. He begins to prey on Nathan's family because he believes they have befriended an Indian. It's a great story... suspenseful, vivid vocabulary, open for LOTS of discussion!!!
