Nelson Mandella's Quote

Article posted April 30, 2013 at 10:37 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 11

"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." -Nelson Mandella

What this quote means to me is that if you are in an important debate about life and death, you can use what you know and apply it to the debate and it might just save you. Also, Nelson Mandella was in jail for a long time and he would have been in jail for longer, but scince he was smart, he got a relative to bail him out of jail. I sent the postcard to my mom and I wanted to get the point across of an idea on how to gain videogame/ electronic time. The idea is that howecver long I read, that would be as long as I would get on the electronics. Right now, I want to change it to however long I train and work out, is how long that I would get on electronics. I'm just hoping that it will persuade my mom to actually do it.

The Book

Article posted April 26, 2013 at 12:20 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 24

The book "Hero" is in second for the books that I have read this year. Never mind that. What I think about the book is that I would give it a 5 star rating because we are at a cliff-hanger and I always want to hear more of the book. What I have been liking about the book is when Mrs. Lubich uses accents while she reads the book. When she reaads the book like that, it makes the story come alive. I like this year's book way more than last year's All School Reads book because this book has more action in it like the fighting and the birth of Nikker and much more. The last year's book only had people contributing to a town garden and not as much diolauge as there is in this book.

I-Towne (Best day ever)

Article posted April 21, 2013 at 11:51 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 4

What I thought of the whole experience was; it was hard to get all of the activities done that we had to and keeping track of your money. One of the things that I learned during this whole thing was; if you don't spend your money wisely, it will become a huge problem in the future. What I could have done was get my activities done during the first break so that I wouldn't be rushed on my second break. The best part was being in Germany becuase we got to control the different music becuase some of the songs were fun. Another part that I liked was getting to taste all of the different foods and beverages.
So, overall, I thought the idea of I-Towne was a good learning experience. It was a good time and I loved doing all of the activities that I could because I learned from them and some of them were really fun to do and put together.

Chicken Wings

Article posted April 15, 2013 at 02:02 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 22

Yes, I thought the chicken wings were fun to dissect in Science class because my partner and I got to see the tendon that straightened the wing and bent it too. We messed around with that for a few minutes. It learned that there are many different parts in only the wing of the chicken like the acual bone, tendons, muscle, and fat. Overall I thought that the dissection was fun, but the skin was a little hard to cut with our dull scissors.

I feel that I am a little bit more prepared for the I-Towne feild trip. The position that I applied for was all of the arts and crafts positions because I am a really artsy person and I enjoy art. What makes me the best candidate is that I have had a lot of art expiriences in my life. I am looking forward to going to I-Towne because it sounds really fun. I figured out that I am an artisian in Germany.

Ernest Green Movie

Article posted March 13, 2013 at 10:21 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 132

My reaction of this movie was that I couldn't stand how the white kids treated the black kids and they called them names. I would have been annoyed, but I still would've walked away from the problem because I would know that I would get suspention or be expelled. Things have changed in schools becuase I never see black people being bullied. The other things that I have seen that has changed in school is that white kids and black kids are being actual friends and not just faking it. There is a little bit of change in the world like the white kids and the black kids are in the same school and in the same building. Although there has been some good change in the world, some things really haven't changed that much. For example, there is still a lot of racism in the world.

Minecraft Update

Article posted February 28, 2013 at 10:31 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 75

I have had nothing to write about. I decided to make another minecraft update because I am just so bored.
Recently, what I have discovered lately in the game is that when I play minecraft on my kindle fire and when I turn it off without exiting the game, I look at my wheat farm and all of the wheat is ready to be harvested.
I have also created another building made out of only wooden planks. A while ago, I have also made a house out of dark wood and wooden planks.
I also created a currency for the world and we usually pay with cobblestone. For example, food that I made or hunted costs 20 cobblestone because cobblestone is really easy to get and the food that I harvest and make is extremely rare in the map.
I own about 3 total mines with all different kinds of resources and my brother owns only 2 mines, but he might make more mines and so will I. We both have to pay each other 10 cobblestone if we want to go into each others mines in the map. THIS IS A SURVIVAL MAP that this is all on. There was no glitches done to this map to make it good. I hard-earned all of the things on my map.
That is all I have for the Minecraft Update and I hope to see you all soon. Have a good rest of the day.

Quotes & Poetry

The quote I am choosing is "Expect the unexpected" by me.

I tell myself to expect the unexpected,
Things are not what I expected,
When pigs fly,
I'll expect it,
When I get the gold medal for school,
I'll expect it,
When something bad, sad, happy, or scary happens,
I will expect it,
Most of the time anyway.

Minecraft update

Article posted February 13, 2013 at 10:11 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 36

This is the minecraft update that you all have been waiting for.
First, I have completed the map that I started during thanksgiving break last year and it is HUGE because I used all of the space possible. The map is filled with quests, buildings, a road, and if you are lucky, you will be able to see the king (me). I decided to name the kingdom: Taydom because it is a mixture of the king's name and the word kingdom.
I started the second version of my kingdom which is called Taydom v2.0. You can only get these maps exclusively on the portable edition of minecraft when I am on it. If you want to download the map, then just ask me and I might get onto the map for you so that you will be able to download it.
That has been the minecraft update. Have a nice day as usual.

Minecraft IS educational!!!

Article posted February 12, 2013 at 10:38 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 161

All of you think that minecraft is just for fun. What you do not know is that you are learning things as you are playing.
The one thing that people might reconize is that you use strategies in the game too. You can also create architecture in the game; from campsights to skyscrapers. The world is yours.
You have two modes on the portable edition. They are creative and survival. Survival is where you can use your survival strategies and fight mobs. In survival, you will also need to eat food so that you can stay alive and regain health. In creative, you can show off your architecture skills and build statues.
Also, in both game modes, you can create signs so that you can communicate with other players in your lobby. That is where the language arts come in. As well as any other language. An idea for what you can do on creative mode is take a story, use the imagery in the story, and try to make one of the setting in the story or book. Also, if you are writing a book like me, you can take the setting that you described and create it in the virtual world of minecraft.
It also teaches a little bit of math too in the game. Say you are building a house that is one block off of the ground and you want a 25 block area inside of the house and you want it to be square shape, then you would build the edge of the house a six by six square because you would need a five by five square on the inside. The math term for that would be a nesting square.
The game will also bring you through the subject of humanities. How it brings you through humanities is about the animals and where they are located and what you can get out of them. For example, you can get raw meat and leather out of a cow, wool from a sheep, chicken from a chicken, and raw porkchops from a pig. Also you need humanities skills for where to find supplies. You can find iron two blocks below sea level and you can find diamonds really deep under the ground and you can find other things like gold or coal in the middle of the two resources. You will also be able to find coal on the sides of mountains.
The last subject this game can teach you is science. For example, if you cool lava with water, you can get obsidion on the game and in real life. Also, you know that sulfer is used for explosives in both worlds.
In conclution, minecraft isn't just a fun game to play, it is also educational. This is the best game that I have played and it is avaiable in the amazon app store and on the computer. Respond back to me and tell me what star rating you would give this game and why. Hope you have a good day.

There once Was A Cell

Article posted February 5, 2013 at 10:13 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 43

There once was a cell named Phil,
He was tiny, but he made up all living things,
Animals and people is what he made,
He was veiwed under a microscope,
When he looked up, he yelled,"Ah! An Eye!",
He was so scared, he jumped up and started to run,
The boy then ran after the cell,
The cell got squished by a big, stinky shoe,
Phil passed out by the smell,
And down he fell,
The boy picked up the cell,
But the boy applied too much pressure and Phill died a painful death,
and the boy cried, "Nooooo."

Our Wiki

Article posted February 3, 2013 at 09:48 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 191

Over all, I think that my team's wiki went well because our communication was good. one of the subject for the conversation had over 15 replies! It was kind of challenging to do the wiki since there was a kid from a different school in a different state, but we got things done and fast. What we could have done differently was put a little more facts and pitures of our poet Walt Whitman. We also could have finished the video quicker. What we should have for the kids that do this project next year is maybe a little more time to work on this, but only like one or two days extra. Over all the project was really fun and interesting.

Bullying is Dumb!

Article posted January 23, 2013 at 10:18 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 135

The assembly was an okay thing. What I really liked about the speaker was that he was really funny but also very serious. What made him funny was because he made awesome sound effects and he immitated characters very well. It had a huge effect on me because it was really sad when he talked about the little girl who sent him a letter about what girls were calling her right in front of her face. That part got to me. I don't think it had as big of an impact on the school because I still see bullying and I am still being bullied and I would love it if the bullying could stop forever, but it can't go away. Something a kid called me before winter break is still stuck to me. Luckly I told an adult and the kid stopped calling me the name.

What I think it means.

Article posted January 14, 2013 at 10:59 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 170

"Believe you can and you're halfway there." Theodore Roosevelt said. What I think this means is as long as you believe in yourself, you are halfway to success, and nothing will be able to get in your way. How I could apply this quote to my life is by beliving that I can memorize something and then all it would take is believing that I memorize the thing and tell my self to put a little bit of time each day to help and I am already halfway there. This quote motivates me because just thinking about this quote motivates me to do better in school this last semester of school. I want to work hard is what this quote makes me think. How I can apply this quote to my life is just by beleiving that I can get an A on a homework assignment or a test, that is all I need to motivate myself to study and do good on the test or homework. I think it could make a positive attitude because if somebody is not that excited about a homework assignment, all they can do to beleive in themselfs is going through that quotin their head. It might be able to make an impact on the world because if the people in the world focus on picking up the litter on the ground, we could have a brighter, cleaner world in the future.

Goals

Article posted January 7, 2013 at 11:51 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 314

My goal this year for academics is to get a 4.0 grade average for the rest of this year so I can earn a gold medal. That means I would have to work harder, pay more attention in class, and have no distractions during class and home work. I would need to add more concentration so I can get my homework done and correctly. I will also need to study for tests so I can pass them to get an even better grade for class.

Greece is Cool!

What I've learned from the greece unit so far,is that Sparta starts to train boys so that they can become warriros to fight the enemies. When the boys are taken out of their family, they are usually taken by age 7.
In class, we've been doing the olympics for part of the simulation. We've done thumb wrestling, arm wrestling, push-ups, sit-ups,javelin throw, long jump, wall sits, and shotput. I thought that all of these activities were really fun. I got to do a few of these events.

Rock and fossils!

Article posted December 5, 2012 at 12:37 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 465

I kind of agree and disagree with the scientists because the rocks/ fossils could have been left alone so that the newer rocks are on top and the older rocks are on bottom. I disagree with the scientists because there could have been an earthquake that happened and flipped all of the rocks and fossils upside down so that all of the newer rocks are on bottom and the older rocks on top.

Article posted November 29, 2012 at 10:18 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 519

There are so many cool things about technology. For example we have computers and cars. Computers are the best thing to have around because we can look up info, games, or books. We can also purchase things online. Cars are also a terrific technology that has ever been made. If it is cold outside, then we can have a car to go places. Cars also can get us places quicker and easier.

About my Story I've Been Writing.

Article posted November 28, 2012 at 10:41 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 540

So, some of the students in my class have heard about the book I've been writing, even some of the teachers have heard about the book I'm writing. If you have not, however, heard about the book I'm writing, then today is your lucky day to get in on the book.
The first thing you should know about the book I'm writing is that it is an action/ suspense setting for the book. These types of books are very complicated to write.
Second thing you should know about my book is that you can ask me anytime you see me to read the book and enjoy it. Please don't spill anything on this book because it takes a long time to create a book and actually to sit down and write it.
Third thing you should know about my book is its title. the title is called: Struck Down, But Not Destroyed. I can't tell you a summery about this amazing book that I'm writing, you will just have to wait and read the book to find out yourself.
There will be a waiting list to read my book! Give the book back when you are done once through! If you want to read the next chapter I write/ want to read it again, you give the book back and put your name at the bottom of the list.
When I finish the update on the book, I will blog saying that I had just finished the update. :)

I got the idea to share about my book from my mind!

What I'm Thankful for...

Article posted November 15, 2012 at 10:18 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 458

As I've looked back, I found a lot of things I'm greatful for. There is school, freedom of speech, and my family. I'm thankful for the ability to go to school because I want to learn about how our country started and how it changed. Sure I'm like "School is boring" but I still go because I can. I'm also thankful for the freedom of speech because now I can hang out with anyone I please. I also now can go to a school with anyone I can without having to go to an all white school. I am the most greatful for my family that lives in California to support my family that lives here in Colorado. If it weren't for my ather part of my family in California, then I wouldn't have a house to live in. I want to thank all of the things I just described and keep thanking them.

I think the best mystery story was "What Comes Around Goes Around". I liked this book the becuase I was always wanting to know what happens, so I was sad after the story ended. The author really made the story suspensful. He put me at the edge of my chair.I calim it the best mystery story ever because for any reader, even a person that hates to read would enjoy this story because this story will allways keep you at the edge of your char.

A great mystery story starter could be like this: It was a cold foggy night in a dark alley where two kids were roming.

Over all for the blogging, I thought that this was a fun way to communicate and to have fun. These are probiably the most fun Homework assignments I've ever done in my whole entire life. If I can, then I will probiably still do blogging in highschool. I like the blogs because they've been going smooth. There has been a couple bumps in the road, but that doesn't make me not like blogging than I already do. One of the problems are the blogs take so long to get approved or get feed back from the teacher. I already do thing that these blogs are writing assignments. That is why I likes blogging so much. I like writing, I've always loved to write, and i always will love to write. :)

Current Event!

Article posted October 16, 2012 at 10:55 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 498

One current event I found on CNN Student news was the 2nd Presidential Debate between Mitt Romney and Obama. The debates work something like this: The two presidents get the same topic and talk about why/ why not or if something is/ isn't reasonable. Whoever debates the best out of the two presidents, will win the debate. :) I think these debates are a really good way to get to know the presidents opinion about each thing.

A book that I recently just read was called; How to Survive Middle School. This book was funny, but sad at the same time. This book was written by Donna Gephart. It was sad when Hammy (David's Hampster) dies in the book. It is funny at the beggining when David is doing his first video in the book and he shows his sister's zit-cream filled face. For this part of the video, David called the section "Daily Achney Forecast".

Minecraft/ Tobuscus Talk

Article posted September 26, 2012 at 10:30 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 219

Hello, this is Taylor Baker with your update for minecraft news!!!

First, I've been awesomely lagit at minecraft. I might have to make a video of me playing minecraft and post it on youtube! Like I said: I might post a video on youtube or something. I might not be able to get videos up onto youtube. :(

Even if I do not put anything on youtube I could still show you what I can do in only about 10 minutes on minecraft. You might be suprized of the outcome.

Fox Run Forever!

Article posted September 20, 2012 at 10:30 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 664

Although there are many feild trips I liked, the Fox Run feild trip was my 2nd most favorite feild trip. My favorite acedemic activity was the pond study because I got to see a water spider for the first time in my life! My favorate team building activity was the island game because it took alot of strategy. Out of all the things I am good at, strategy is one of the things I can do really well! I enjoyed this feild trip very much and if I could do this feild trip again, I would do it again in a heartbeat. :)

I can do the math

The doughnut makers were trying to figure out what 7 times 13 are. The doughnut maker that was doing the math first kept on saying that 7 times 13 is 28. The other doughnut maker kept on saying that 7 times 13 is not 28. I agree with the 2nd doughnut maker that was doing the math. I agree with the 2nd doughnut maker because 7 times 13 are obviously not 28. Not even 7 plus 13 is 28. I say that 7 times 13 are 91. One other way you culd do this is put down seven thirteens in a column and add all the thirteens up properly. You should end up with the number 91 either way. The other nuber that work well are 91 and 1. I did infact enjoy the clip. :)

Funny Times on Happy Wheels

Article posted September 4, 2012 at 11:31 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 791

One time on Happy Wheels (a game) I was just having some fun with the character: Irresponsible Parent and then I made the man float off the ground like ET and I imitated the little boy and made him say, “Dad, that gives me a headache."

Dogs are best when fluffy and loving.

Hot dogs are best with ketchup and cheese.

Nutty bars are the best kind of peanut and chocolate bars you could ever have.

Hot chocolate is best in the winter after playing in the snow.

Gymnastics is fun because of all the flips I get to do.

I wish there was a chocolate fountain in the cafeteria just for me and my friends.

Waffles are beast with a bunch of strawberries and a truck load of whipped cream.
