Adios 7th Grade!

Article posted May 15, 2013 at 12:31 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 32

7th grade was a fun was successful year! I don't think anything wasn't successful, except for a little organization. I learned a lot of math this year, thanks to Mr. Howard. I've learned more about poetry because of the poetry presentation and stuff. Something I've learned personally is that friendships can change. Personalities of people can change, and sometimes that can bring hatred. It's not the best thing, but it's what happens in life. I don't think I would change anything. I felt this year was fine. Something I learned the hard way is friendships, like I said earlier. I learned that the friends you make in 6th grade or earlier can change. It makes me sad, but it happens. For 8th grade, I'm glad 7th grade prepared me with homework because I know there's going to be lots coming my way. My advice for future 7th graders is not do do your work last minute and write all of your homework down in your planner. Can't wait for 8th grade!

Fun at the Fair

Article posted May 8, 2013 at 05:42 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 14

I studied the goddess Athena, most of you know, and my guiding question is,"Why was Athena feared, yet honored by people?" Before I go into more detail with that, I feel history influences our lives today by not doing the same wrong thing again. Such as judging people by their skin color. We look back at that and think how terriblre that was and never let it happen again. I didn't really like standing, but walking around other than learning things I got to meet some really cool people. I found out a lot about weird and unique topics. Like foot binding or different weapons.
I learned a lot of facts, but I also found out a lot of different personalities by the trifolds. Some people are very artistic and others are more of the informational type. Such as a trifold I saw with a tree coming out of the side with other little drawings on the board. It was very impressive I thought. And for the informational boards, I saw plenty of those. One board had information about foot binding. The story behind it was a king had dancing girls and preferred small feet over big feet. So he got baby girls and put little shoes around their feet. Their feet would grow, but their toes would curdle under. They were so embarrassed that they were never seen in public. And that's how the king got small feet women. That was probably the most surprising and most interesting topic.

Inspiring Quote

Article posted May 4, 2013 at 01:07 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 82

This quote I think provides hope or perservierence for everyone. A lot of us complain about education, but hearing this quote keeps us going. People in the past created so much technology. If they didn't take education seriously we wouldn't have such advanced technology. I would probably send the postcard to my brother because I feel if read the quote he'd be a famous technician. He is already annoyed with education, we all are at one point, so I feel this would help his perservierence. The message I'd want to get across to him is that he could change the world or do anything he'd want to do with education.

Best Book!

Article posted April 23, 2013 at 02:31 AM GMT0 • comment (1) • Reads 60

So far I love the book. It's intense, you don't know whats going to come next, and it's reality. I love how it's reality, it actually happens in this world and we need to not judge anyone because they might be going through that. This book shows the reality that some of us don't realize is around us. Such as Sean's abusive mother and how she doesn't care about him, sadly that's reality. I don't think there's anything I don't like. And compared to last years book, THIS IS MUCH BETTER=http://!! Last year's book talked about a community coming together for a garden, I don't think that's as realistic as our book. My favorite thing about this part is probably that Mr. H is changing Sean's life. He actually shows Sean love, that Sean has never excepted in a long time. Such as standing up for Sean when Sean didn't want to go with his dad. I LOVE this book. I hope to find more like this.

Lets Go to Mexico!

Article posted April 19, 2013 at 12:02 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 118

I officially LOVE International Towne. As most of you know I was president of Mexico, and I loved it. We sold out of all of our slushies and sodas. That's how good it went. The currency exchange wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be, THANK YOU SINGAPORE! I learned how to say hello and thank you in lots of different languages. I also kind of got an idea of what each country sells. If I could change anything on our trip to International Towne is longer breaks. I felt like I was being rushed, getting all the required things. I think the only thing I bought that wasn't required was a bracelet from Egypt. The best part was probably the advertising for my country. It might sound weird, but I've got selling in my blood. It was just fun to go out in the middle of the towns and advertise. I hope to return to International Towne sometime.

Chicka Chicka Chicken Wing

Article posted April 9, 2013 at 05:25 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 73

Chicken wing dissection? It was awesome. Thankfully Mrs. Kosters provided gloves. It was fun, because I never really had done a real dissection before. At first I thought it was really gross, but after a few seconds I thought it was cool. I think would've liked it if we got to pick our groups, but that's the only complaint from me. I wasn't expecting a chicken wing, but it was worth while. One thing I learned is that chicken skin is hard to get off a chicken wing. I'm excited for the frog dissection coming up.

Preparations for I Towne

Article posted April 5, 2004 at 06:00 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 38

I'm very excited for I Towne. I applied for a Customs agent in any country. I applied for that job because I'm great at greeting people, I stick to the rules, and Id kind of be like the president's wingman. The other job I would be interested in would be a president in any country. Friday we figured out our jobs and I am now a president in Mexico. I am very excited for International Towne, because I feel like I would be a great leader for my country, and International Towne is a new experience I would like to encounter.

Brave Reflection

Article posted March 16, 2013 at 12:53 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 181

I got so many reactions to the movie. One moment I was excited, another I was sad, and then the next I was mad. I would probably start out at the school because it would be an amazing opportunity if it were me, but once kids would start beating up on me and the teachers wouldn't treat me the same, I would probably leave. Like I said I would probably leave, I don't think I would have the courage. I would have gotten violent at times because I would get so annoyed of the inequality. I think the kids in The Little Rock Nine group that actually stayed in the school had bravery and a lot of courage because they changed learning environments so quickly and left their comfort zones and left friends. In addition, I think things have changed a lot, but some people haven't changed one bit. There is still racism out there, but not as much as there was back then. There might be discrimination one place or another, but I've never experienced someone being bullied because of color ever. I know it's real though. I'm glad the Little Rock Nine stood up for equal rights for schools.
