Christmas in Mexico

Article posted December 6, 2012 at 01:03 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 394

Mexico says Felize Navidad to you all! Even though Mexico celebrates christmas, they celebrate it a little bit different then us. Let me tell you about it. Some traditions in Mexico are like how to decorate the house, what food to cook, what presents they get, and lots more! In Mexico, people decorate their houses with flowers, evergreens, and paper lanterns. They also display the nativity scene set a.k.a the Pesebre. After prayers are said, they have a big fiesta which includes pinatas, candy, and lots of fun! The poinsettia is a native flower to Mexico and was put into the christmas tradition in the 17th century. Mexico will have a great time this year for christmas! Merry christmas... or should i say, Felize Navidad!:)

The Tropical Rainforest

Article posted November 2, 2012 at 12:20 AM GMT0 • comment (1) • Reads 539

My biome is the tropical rainforest. 3 organisms in this biome is the jaguar that is a predator that has spots and fur, a parrot that is a bird that is very colorful and pretty, and algae that is a plant that grows in the water and it is green. There are a lot of really interesting facts about this biome. Kind of like how its cold and it snows a lot.I would love to go to the tropical rainforest because it is very cold and snowy and i love the snow! That is what i have learned about my biome and i hope to learn more! I definatly suggest you to read and learn about this topic!:)

For the monster project, we have been doing a lot of things. here are a few of them. We have been doing warm and cool comments. Warm and cool comments are when people give you comments on your work and give you suggestions for your work. We have also been doing diagrams to show our work and to label the parts of our part. Lastly, we presented our pictures of our part to the rest of the class. The monster project is so much fun!:)

Monster Tail

I will be making the suspenders and the tail for the monster. The tail was descpripted by Mrs. Cody's 6th grade and Mrs. Breheny's kindergarten class from Macomb, Illinois. The suspenders were descripted by Mrs. Chiangs 1st grade class in Cupertino, California. The tail of the monster is spiky, firey, rainbow, purple and pink fluff balls sparkly, white and blue snowflakes and 4 feet long by 1 foot wide. the suspenders are slimy rainbow striped with tiny red spikes. The tail will connect to the body and the suspenders will be connected to the belt.

#451 Why Does Gum Lose It's Flavor?

Article posted September 18, 2012 at 12:08 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 751

The interesting question that i chose was, #451 Why Does Gum Lose It's Flavor? Two interesting facts that I learned in this article were that gum loses flavor because your saliva in your mouth washes down the sugar and flavor in the gum to your stomach so all that you are left with is the gum base witch does not have any flavor, and the second thing that i learned was no person really knows who the first person was to invent gum. I picked the word manufacturer and i defined that word by saying that a manufacturer was a person who makes something. In this case a gum manufacturer is a person who makes gum.
