I love this story. There are two different story tellers reading the book. Which story teller do you like better? How does reading a story aloud affect your audience?

Today we played Go Fish! We had to match words with and without a final e. It was challenging but we kept getting better and better!

Today we played a game called Fiddle Sticks. We wrote sight words on popsicle sticks. We put a red dot on one of the sticks then we put them all in a plastic cup. We took turns drawing a stick and reading the word. If someone drew a stick with a red dot, they said, "Fiddle Sticks!" then everyone had to put their sticks back in and start all over. We knew those sight words pretty well by the end of the game!

Today our K authors worked on making words.
First they spread out their alphabet cards.
Then they practiced making words by switching or adding one letter at a time.
Lastly they chose a word to use in a sentence.
Our first grade authors built word ladders also. At the end of their ladder, they had to make a word using all of the letters they were given. The letters were: s, e, p, t, c, i, r, and u. Can you figure out the word?

I was searching for a video about skunks and came across this one. It is about a baby pet skunk! I've never heard of someone having a pet skunk and I wonder if it's a good idea? What do you think?

I'm Mrs. Thiery. I've taught Preschool-Grade 5 and am currently, during the school year, a Curriculum Technology Partner for the Grand Forks Public Schools. This summer, I'm so excited to be spending my time in summer school with these bright young readers and writers.
