Conditions of Use

One day our Grade 7 class was  going on a field trip to Rocky Island .  My friend Amy and I were so excited .  We took the water taxi over and then went to go explore. But when our teacher called for us to come back we couldn't hear her over the crashing waves and talking gulls.  Soon it was dusk, the clouds quickly covered the sky. Some rain drops fell and soon it started to downpour.  We had to find shelter somewhere .  Luckily we spotted a light house.  I knocked on the door, 'knock , knock, knock ', "Is anyone here ???"  An elderly man opened the door.

'Yes?',   He said in a kind but gruff voice .

"We are lost and wondering if we could stay here for the night ???"

"...aaaa of course ... come in."  The hair on the back of my neck stood on end.  Inside it was dark , dingy and full of leaks .  The floor was slightly damp and very squeeky. To the right, there was a big stone fire place , on the left a spiral starcase.

"Well I better go turn on the light house lamp so the sailors steer clear of the rocks, by the way my name is Jim."  We setteld down by the fire and fell asleep .  The next morning we got up around 7:15am . Jim said he would be up early but he was no where. We checked the very top of the light house, in his bed, in the kichen and outside but he was in none of those places .

"Strange, he was there when we went to bed ... wasn't he ??"

"I thought so",  I said . "I wonder where he went ???"

"Ya ...me too."  About 15 minutes later we found a row boat in a deserted boat house.  We started for shore. All those years wondering what happened to that old man .
