Title: reporting (06/04/12)
Description: We are coming up to report time here at school. If you were to write your own reports for Maths and English what would you write. Tell me what your strengths and weaknesses are? What should your focus areas and new targets be for the second semester based on your work so far? And what grades would you award and why?

Maths- B

Guinevere tries to work as hard as she can solving problems and other work. She has improved more and more throughout the first semester. She still sometimes fails to complete tasks in time, but Guinevere always tries hard to finish and most of the class fails to complete the task on time.

I give myself a B and I say all those things about because they are all true. I try as hard as I can to solve problems and finish tasks on time because I am not really used to the time limits we are given. I have definitely improved from the beginning of term 1 to now. I think out of all the subjects in class, Maths is my best subject and the subject I probably try hardest on.

Strengths and Weaknesses for Maths
My strengths in Maths are definitely addition and subtraction, patterning numbers, converting fractions to their simplest from, squared numbers, 2D shapes (Working out their perimeter and area,) tables up to 11, division and multiplication with 1 or 2 digit numbers, positive and negative numbers, place value and percentages to decimals to fractions and their visualisations.

My weaknesses are long division, long multiplication, multiplying and dividing with large numbers, square roots of the numbers which aren’t squared numbers, financial mathematics, volume of 3D shapes, decimal multiplication and division, improper fraction to proper fractions and algebra problems.

My goals for next semester in Maths are:
1. To try even harder to finish tasks.
2. Work on the areas of Maths that I’m struggling on (some unfamiliar algebra formulas.)
3. Try to learn about more about the topics I already know, but not well enough.

English- B

Guinevere has a great writing ability and can write narratives or persuasive texts with the same strong ability. She definitely has improved since the beginning of the term. Her Grammar is at am expected level and so is her Spelling, but her Literacy is much better.

I say these things about me because I think they are 100% true, I have definitely improved since Term 1 and I still have room to improve. I try my hardest in Spelling, Grammar and Literacy, and I know that my strongest point definitely isn’t Spelling and/or Grammar.

Strengths and Weakness for English
My strengths for English are definitely narratives, persuasive texts, literacy devices and paragraph structure.
My weaknesses are spelling, grammar, poems, reading and punctuation.

My goals for next semester are:
1. I will try to work harder in grammar, spelling, reading and punctuation.
2. I will never think I already know all there is to know about writing.
3. I will work on my rhyming for poems.

English
I would give myself a B because I need to have a more detailed reason for questions. My strengths are reading out loud as well as past, present and future tents. My weakness is paragraphing structure in narratives and in persuasive writing.
My Target for English next semester is to give evidence to my reasons in reciprocal reading.

Maths
I would give my self a B because I have some areas of maths that I need working on but others that could be more challenging. My strengths are drawing visualization of fractions, improper fractions and mixed numbers. On the other hand one of my weaknesses are times tables because I am not that quick with saying them and I need to memorize the 6, 7 and 8 times tables. I think that my focus areas for the next semester is Multiplying numbers.

Maths:
I think i deserve a 'C' for Maths because I am slowly getting better and before I got to this school I didnt know much of the things I have learnt this year. My strength is probably addition,I just love doing that kind of maths.
My focus areas this next term would be division even though we learnt that in year 4. My target would be to just keep doing good things and keep trying hard.

English:
I think i deserve a 'C+' for English, because I think I am quite good at spelling and grammar.
My strengths are my spelling.
My weaknesses are probably writing compound sentences, even though Mrs Young told us how to use them.
My focus area should be writing good compound sentences and keep doing well in spelling.

I grade my self 85% for maths because I am strong in that subject and I know I can do really well on maths. I grade my self 30 % in S&E because I’m weak at it.
My focus and target for the second semester are:
Listening to the teacher
Following Instructions and Rules
Keeping update and doing activities and homework
To learn hard and to study hard.
These are my Focus and targets.
I would also Grade my self 2 for term 2 because I know that I’m a bit lazy and I don’t do much and sometimes.

Literacy - B

I think that for my report for Literacy I deserve a B. I think this because I think that I have improved my persuasive writing techniques. I have also tried really hard to master the new technique we have been learning which is Reciprocal Reading. In Reciprocal Reading I have been trying to work as a group without being bossy and taking control.

Maths - B

I think that for my report for Maths I deserve a B. I think this because I have improved on my fractions, decimals and percentages. I have also improved on my coordinates. I also think I deserve a B because almost every week I hand in my
Maths homework on time.

James has a good improvement in Mathematics. He is powerful in numbers and mental maths. Maths homework needs to be more detailed and generally improved.

English- C
James has many improvements in English. Most of his improvements are in persuasive text. He corporates well with other s in receptacle reading. James' Grammar will definitely need improvement. Overall he did quite well but has room for improvement.

Avinash R -- My Report on Myself

My grade for Maths. B
I gave myself a B for Maths because I think I need to put more effort into my tasks and not rush it. I think I learnt a lot of Maths this semester with Mrs Taylor. For my Maths homework I really need to improve. I need to try not to rush it at the very last minute on Sunday night.

My grade for English. B
I gave myself a B for English because I think I need loads of improving on my handwriting and I need to try not to rush my work. I learnt a load about persuasive writing and using literacy devices with Mrs Young. For my English homework I need to write more detailed homework instead of giving short answers. I also need to stop doing the English homework at the very last minute on Sunday night.
