For this assignment I prepared this way, first I thought about which article or story we read in the class has interests me more. I chose the mother and son poem, which I thing we all related to it. After I had choosing my article, and understood the meaning behind it, I got my idea which was to be successful in life, you have to work hard, success is all about achieving self-control even in your hardest times, not given up on half way toward your goals. I have thought how I would present this idea in an interesting way. I know I am bad with drawing, so to make my audience very easy to understand what my visual is saying, I went image then I copied all the images I need piece by piece, after I have done that, I made my visual in order, the beginning of your way to success, the middle, which is the hardest part, and the end, which is when you actually achieve your success. To communicate whit my audience was pretty easy, because the visual I created was very easy to read, and I also added some words,to made more readable. I was very relaxed with the person I was presenting because she was my friend, so I am quite happy with my outcomes, however next time I will practice more to make more detail.

For this assignment I have not yet completed it. But for when I have a few things in mind to prepare for it when I have it done.

First I would read everything over in my head and make sure that it all sounds proper, proper sentences, proper grammer, etc.

Second I would read it out loud to myself, again, to make sure everything sound proper.

Third I would go over my writing and make sure everything is ledgeable, and has proper punctuation so that I am able to read it without mistakes.

And lastly I would correct any mistakes made, and make sure that I have tried to sum up my main points so not to make it too long and runny.

I prepared for the assignment by thinking about the piece I was going to do a poster about , how I felt about the issue that discussed and then tried to translate that the very best I could onto my poster. I drew a brain in a jar on a shelf , to me that symbolized how we are putting are brains away on to a shelf like we do with books , to get dusty and leave untouched. The second picture is a brain connected to a monitor and computer because we have now missplaced our brains with another artificial intelligence instead of gaining our own intelligence through learning !I think i did a very good job presenting , I am very good at getting my thoughts across in a logical way that people can understand and then form their own oppinions on .  To improve myself I will speak more fluently without pausing to think about my next train of thought,

If I were to have done the 'Representation Assignment' to prepare I would have read over my work a few times so that I had it some what memorized. When representing things to an audience, I need to use more eye contact and not rush through the presentation. I find that I do better when I chose topics that I can personally relate to. This would help my presentation. Just going over all the information a few times also helps.

To prepare for the presentation I just took a look over my final product and thought about why I chose to draw the things that I did. Looking at those things I thought about how each was relevant as far as the story and overall theme, and gave a reason for each in my presentation. One problem is that my presentation was very brief and short and done very quick. After quickly explaining each picture I found myself at a loss for words. One thing I could have done better is have a more detailed presentation. To have had a better presentation for this assignment I could have talked more about the overall theme instead of only talking about why I chose to draw those specific pictures.

For my representation assignment, I did a poster for Mother to Son. I drew a staircase, just as she decribed it with splinters and nails sticking up, uneven and with carpet missing in spots. At the bottom of the staircase, I put a dark cloud with lightning and rain, a broken a heart, a no money symbol and a crooked picture with an angry face on it representing all the hard and negative times life can give you. On the staircase I had a man climbing up it and at the top I drew a sun, a heart, a money symbol and a picture hanging up with a smiley face on to represent all the happy and positive things in life. I was trying to show that keep if you don't try, you're only going to stay at the bottom with the bad times where as if you keeping trying and keep climbing, the good things in life will eventually come. I'm no artist but I feel I did a good job of showing what my idea was.

I felt that I wasnt going to be as great as I was at the presentation. I figured that my visual had most of what I had to say without even really having to say much. So I really didnt say that much because I didnt have to. so in terms of preperation I could have prepared by making an actual presentation and putting a little bit more effort into the presentation. It will also be better for me to choose a different person as I will get better at it.

For my poster I did it on the short story that I have read before, On the Sidewalk Bleeding, and from which I believe I personally did well in from depicting that death of a boy after being stabbed for the gang that he was proud in. On my poster I drew that of a boy laying on a sidewalk in a pool of his own blood with a purple jacket on him that says “Royals” on it and that of a crown showing that of the pride in the gang he was in; also on the four corners I put blood either dripping down into a pool of blood. When presenting it I was pointing and explaining the symbolism that I drew on the poster and made eye contact with the person I was presenting to, I also (even though I knew him) I introduced myself to him and also introduced my poster. Sadly I was going to add more to the poster like a police officer saying “A royal” and the boy’s girlfriend crying over his body but with the time that was provided I think I did a decent job but nothing to be too proud of. Improvements that I think I could do is that of adding more symbols of the story and maybe do a bit of a write up of what to say instead of just winging it like what I did mostly.

I did mine on Janet Ross. I made a brocure basiclly making a group that people with difficult issuses in their life for anyone welcome to attend. I think I presented very clearly and my commuications was good. The thing I would change is to have more information and a little bit more detail. There was not a lot of time to prepare for this in class assignment so it didn't give me enough time. I am happy with what I presented but I think more information next time is a must.

I didn't do the assignment because I can't draw and the assignment was about making a visual. I was attempting to try the assignment and ended up giving up on it. Next time I can try to use the computer to make the assignment look nice. I will also make more of a effort to complete the assignment. When we get another assigment like this I will try to look up examples to see how I can do good on this assignment and how people set up their visual.

Even though I misses this class, I did prepare for two other presentations, one for the Lyric presentation (small group) ans research presentation (in class). For both presentations, I made sure to have all the material that would aid me in having an effective speech. Copiling notes is one thing, getting if front of a group whether big or small is something completely different. No matter how much I prepared and how confident I felt in the car practicing or presenting it to my husband, nothing could shake my nerves. Practice makes perfect but in this case, I'm glad it's over.

It helped that i new that person i was working with cause for me its not easy to speak infront of people. i had to convince myself that i would do good and it worked.I had thought about my picture alot so it made it easyer to talk about it when it came time. I could prob of thought it over some more gone over it in my head and said it to myself before i had started just so when i did talk it was clear and understandably.

Oral presentations are by far the hardest thing it seems in the world to do. I really can't think of a time where I feel more uncomfortable in my own skin than when standing in front of a group of people speaking. I have only in my life, been able to present a handful of presentations. What I have learned and think is one of the most important factors for success with this daunting task is not listening to the inner voice that tells you that "you are going to fail."
Yesterday afternoon, I had chickened out of presenting to the class. While watching my classmates presenting to the class a battle was going on inside of my head. It was a battle between "Yes,you can do this" and "No, you can't do this". I made a decision not to listen to the "No, you can't" voice and to face the fear. I felt like a nervous wreck during my presentation but the feeling of success afterwards, priceless.

I always feel comfortable speaking in front of people.. whether it one or a thousand! I feel I have a way with words, especially when I am passionate about the topic. The only thing I would critique myself on, is I cant sit still...ever. I enjoy public speaking, so my prep involved familiarizing myself with the topic, rereading the information, and picking three main ideas that drew me to pick the article I presented to one of my peers. Yep, that's me.. I love being heard!

To get myself ready for the representation assignment I used the old practice in the mirror trick. I felt kind of stupid doing it but I was watching my body language, my eye contact and listening for clarity. It usually makes me very nervous doing a presentation but it really helped that I was able to do it in front of a family member. I felt that because I was less nervous I was able to perform better. When I get nervous I find that I speed up the pace of my presentation. Being able to practice in front of a family member also helped me control my speed and word pronunciation.

I had prepared myself by thinking and picturing on how my representation would look like. I thought of a stop sign and I used it for my representation. within the stop sign, I drew a picture of a little boy holding a purse in his hand while running, that little boy describes Roger when he tried to snatch a lady's purse. I believe that my representation has explain alot and also it has more details. The whole idea of my representation is to inform, persuade and stop young generation from doing what end in regrets. Stop them from getting involved with stealing, alcohol and even using of drugs. We need to make right choices that could help us and other coming generations.

to prepare myself for the representation assignment and the presentation i am going to make sure that i feel really comfortable with my final product. i am going to make sure that i use a good volume that the entire class can hear me and that i use good eye contact. usually i am really good at winging assignments, but when it comes down to a presentation i cant really do it because i start to get a little nervous and then it throws everything off.
