blog 12 Planning is important because it gives your essay structure. Having structure keeps an essay in proper order, this is needed when writing a formal essay. Planning effectively will help ensure that you maintain a theme or thesis throughout your essay. Backing up your points with examples or reasons will be easier to do so when you have a proper plan to follow, there are certain essay planners that are better for this than others. I would be able to write an essay without planning it out first but the quality would most likely be lacking and it would be disorganized. To me planning is rather important especially for a formal essay. The only thing that I don't like about planning is that it can sometimes limit the length of an essay. This can happen if you follow your plan and when your done you are still a page short, then you have to continue on the fly and the rest won't usually have that proper structure that the rest did.
