Dance

I flicked on the light switch and looked around the empty dance room. I could see my reflection follow me as I wandered to the middle of the room, the dim lights glowing down on my face. The room was still, no one was around at 2:00am, so it was the perfect time to practice. No one knew about this, and I didn’t want anyone to; it was my secret. I’d do this often, sneak away from the dorm and dance without anyone ever finding out. I didn’t dance to anything in particular; I just lost myself to the rhythm and danced across the room letting all my thoughts fly away. I tuned up the stereo and shut the door, leaving all my worries wait outside; now was my time to dance. I felt a rush of adrenaline hit me as I started to loosen up and felt my feet flounce across the wooden floor. The bass made the floor vibrate, and I shut my eyes, leaving the beat take over. Eventually the song came to an end and I fell to the floor, beads of sweat dripping off my forehead and my heartbeat racing.
