1. Alexander thought of himself as a Greek. He was ambitious and wanted to be like his father, King Philip II. Alexander learned Greek ideas and spoke Greek. After his father died he wanted to conquest many cities and expand Macedonia.
2. Alexandria, Egypt was important for its center of business and trade. Also it was the learning capital of the Greek world. There was the Alexandria Library, the largest in the world. Then Math and Science flourished in Alexandria.
