The Men and Children would have to be able to go days without food. This was practice for the War because other city-states would burn the food just so they couldn't eat it.

The woman in Athens the woman was to stay home and take care of the children. In Sparta the woman could go off and help with War. Marriage was very different two. Girls in Athens would marry at a young age, like 13 or 14. In Sparta the female would be abducted in the middle of the night by her future husband, then her head would be shaved and she had to wear men's attire. She would then, finally, meet her husband, mainly for child conception. Any Spartan man could choose a wife in this manner and this led to many wives to a husband and also many husbands to a wife.

The life of the boy must have been very harsh! He was poor, without parents, and no way to make any money. He was just trying to eat one good meal(Fox) and the Fox scratches the boy so bad that he bleeds to death. Poor boy, I feel so bad for him.
