This semester went pretty well and overall am satisfied about my current standing. What i liked most about the class was the group work, it helped get an idea of what everyone els was thinking about certain topics. I have gain alot of knowledge to help me move on to grade 12 english. Overall i would say the course met my expectations and am happy with how jody ran the class and had things setup. Mostly i think i have met most of my goals that i had set for myself but there are still a couple things i would like to strengthen. Im also pretty confident i will do decent on the exam.

I agree that what is not being said by the media is as important as what's articulated. I think that the statement from the article means that even though the media screens everything there are still problems when it comes to visible minorities. The media has changed so drastically over past years but still has signs of white-washing.

i think advertising and marketing have alot to do with certain individuals identity.
People tend to always buy the newest/latest stuff to be part of that trend. large companies selling thier product use celebrity singers and actors to almost lure people into their market and ideas.So there are many reasons as to why advertising and the market play a role on a persons identity.

We just finished our first major assignment and it's a bit of a change from the minor ones we've done in past classes. I had a bit of difficulty starting the assignment, but once i wrote a few things down it was easier. I feel good that i have completed the assignment itself but a little nervous on how i actually did. If i could improve anything, i would like to improve being able to make connections in between articles, stories.

I find ridiculous and unimportant things like certain shows or movies to make me happy.
Shows like Big Bang Theory or the movie Grandmas boy are not an important thing but are ridiculously funny.So i'd say that those are the things that i find unimportant and ridiculous that make me happy.

In the past couple weeks we've practiced writing skills, reading and viewing a variety of texts.
I think that working on explaining and supporting my ideas outside of class would be a good benefit to my writing and critical thinking.
i also think that evaluating and responding critically is a valuble skill as it can help me make text to text, text to self, and text to world connections.
Regardless i think that all these skills should be practiced frequantly not only at school but home also.

If the internet disappeared tomorrow i would be able to live with out it, since i only use it to read the news or type something out. The internet is a very useful tool and some people have become dependent on it and rely on its use to communicate with family members and get valuable information. I think that the reason for so many people depending on the internet for social interaction and other reasons is that, people have gotten so use to it being in there lifes its like a life style or habit to instant message somone rather than call.

When i'm reading outside of class I usually dont read books to much but tend to read a lot of atricles in the news. I read these articles because i like to keep track of what's going on world-wide. I also ensure that i am reading effectively by researching anything that i dont understand or checking sources.

My first impressions of this class and the work we're doing so far are great. I found the classroom to be a great working enviroment and classmates to be very respectful. I also think the that the teacher is doing a good job at going through assignments.
This semester im going to give my all and show up every day to help me succeed as a successful student.
