Today in class we read the article 'The White Screen'. Respond to the statement in this article: "What is not said by the media is as important as what is explicitly articulated." What do you think this means? What is your perspective?
I think this means that what is not said by the media is usually important because when the media misses something or misses some words its usually pretty drastic or when they dont get the full story. some reporters do storys that arent even correct and they get alot of information wrong thats why you can never really trust the media because the reporters might miss something really important or they might get wrong information.

this course was alright I think that i've improved a little bit over the 4 months I didnt really have any goals when the course started so I didnt meet any of my goals. what I didnt like was when we got the lyrics major assignment on the day we started the lyrics unit and we didnt get that much class time to finish it and I dont really like doing these blogs and comments every week, and this exam has me stressed out seven one page essays and a two page essay is so much work to do its insane its like a university or college exam in grade eleven. Other than that I think I've done good this semester but my mark is so low im so worried about passing with such a low mark. I've learned alot this course that I didn't know before I learned how to write an essay and how to do a research assignment. now that I look back these 4 months just flew by and now its almost over hopefully I'll be in grade 12 next semester. :D.

I think how advertising and marketing affect a persons identity is "lifestyle branding" some companys aim to certain people when they advertise like nike always gets athletes to do their comercials so I think more athletes buy nikes than kids but when you see other commercials like McDonalds you see a whole bunch of diffrent people eating stuff from mcdonalds.
or like an adidas they had a commercials with snoop dogg and a whole bunch of other people in their comercial showing that anyone can wear adidas and I think that the way they advertise their stuff depicts who will wear it and who wont wear it if you look at calven klein they advertise more towards 20-30 year olds so your gonna se 20-30 year olds wearing it.

On this major assignment I made a 2 page rough draft but when I typed it up it only came out to 1 page so I went and did some research on the 2 storys that I picked and that helped me out a little bit. I dont feel to bad about my completed assignment but I feel like I could of done better before rushing to hand it in. If there was 1 thing on my assignment I could improve I would probably redo my rough draft because most of the work I did on the computer, and didn't really work on my rough draft. My rough draft was only 2 pages but on the computer it came to 1 page so the whole extra page that I did on the computer wasn't on my rough draft. How I treated this assignment diffrently is I did a full rough draft first and corrected all my mistakes then I wrote it on the computer and Word pretty much fixed all the errors I had.

something seemingly unimportant that makes me happy are comedy movies. When I watch comedy movies I laugh alot and it takes me away from my other state of mind, and they just generally make me happy and laugh alot. Another thing that makes me happy are video games. When I play video games they take my mind away from everything else especially when they are good you can play them for the whole day or a whole bunch of hours and just have a good time playing them. I can just focus on what im playing and that puts me in a good mood but sometimes I get mad when I play them and it'll put me in a bad mood and I'll have to leave and stop playing the game for a while but when I get back I'm usually fine. those are two things that make me happy from time to time.

evaluating texts and responding critically

some ways I could use these skills outside of the classroom is first trying to remember to even do these "skills" outside of class. some things I can do to practice evaluating texts and responding critically is jot down notes of the things im watching or reading just to help me remember what is being said. and some things I can do to help me respond critically is get all the key points that are being said. if I did these things like jotting down notes of what im reading or watching it will help me get better and help me better understand what im watching or reading. another thing I can do for evaluating texts is re-reading what I dont understand or go over the work I write down until I have no mistakes and I fully understand it.

If the internet dissapeared tommorrow I don't know what I would do because pretty much everything I do at home is on the internet, games, reading, and talking to people If the internet dissapeared tommorrow I would probably end up spending my whole day on the couch just watching tv. and I think some people are to dependant on things like facebook some people spend their whole day on facebook but I spend all my time on games like 7 hours.

I don't read much out of class but when I do I usually read things on the computer, the things I read are usually comments on youtube, I've only read like 1 -3 books and when I read I try to put myself in the main characters shoes and when I don't understand something I try to re-read it's sort of like when I write I like to re-read it all and correct it all. the books I've read are April Raintree when I was in school, The first Harry Potter, and I started to read the first Lord of The Rings but I never finished it I got about a quater of the way done then I got bored of it and just watched the movie.

I'm liking this class so far, I got a good seat at the back of the room and our teacher is really good. I'm familiar with this building because i've been here before for SHARP I don't know what it stands for but I know its for people that dropped out of highschool. I like that there are enough spaces in the classroom so no one has to sit beside me. what I will do to succeed in this course is try to show up everyday and try not to be late so I don't miss anything important because missing one class is missing three hours which is a long time and alot of work.

My favourite movie is probably Lord of the Rings just because its so much diffrent than every other movie and theres so much detail in it, they have maps, different languages and different races like orcs, elfs, goblins, and hobbits.
