“Change isn't easy... changing the way you live means changing what you believe about life. That's hard... When we make our own misery, we sometimes cling to it even when we want so bad to change because the misery is something we know. The misery is comfortable.”

Dean Koontz

I find this quote to be especially powerful to me because I think it describes me. For example: I have moved about every six months since I was 16. I always find a reason to leave. I always say I hate moving and I wish I had a steady place to live, but deep down I know I am afraid to make a long term commitment to one place or one person. That is only one example of many. I am scared to try to make changes to my life to make my life better because even though it may be an improvement, it would still be change. I think Dean Koontz really captured the way a lot of people feel with this quote. It is brilliant and I wouldn’t expect anything less from him.
