My first impression of this class was the class room seemed so small and not enough seats for how many people were there. I have had Jody as a teacher for my last two English classes, I know what to expect from her. This is my first time coming to this school here in Transcona I have been at McLeod Adult Ed for the past 2 semesters it is a big change because it is such a small building. All of my class mates seem to be good people and willing to chat it up, my last two English classes were always so quite no one ever talked unless Jody made us get into groups to talk to one another. I am pumped to be in a class that will be able to talk and discuss what we are working on and learn from each other. I found it hard to write this autobiography since this is my third time in Jody’s class and I have not really changed very much in my life since my first class with her. The course outline is very much the same as last semester I can see this might be a problem for me because it will seem like I had already done it before; it might give me an advantage as well. Only time will tell I am ready to give it 100 % and get this over and on to RRC nest year.

I had just finished my grade 11 at River East Transcona School on McLeod Ave. My first impression on this class was yes! I got the same teacher as grade 11!. I do think this school in Transcona is way more small then Mcleods school. I think my classmates are nice.. so far. I think the work we done so far has been very close to what we done in grade 11. I hope for myself to achieve a lot my grades in grade 12 this year. My teacher is cool she's been very helpful in grade 11, so I am happy to have her again. I will come to school when there is class's. I will make sure I get my home work handed in on time. I will do the best I can to get my grade 12 English.

When I walk in the class there was lots of people, more than I had in my last class on McLeod. The building a little smaller and lots of new people. I’m here first time, I never been at this school, I was studying at McLeod Adult school before I came here. The teacher is nice and I like the work we do in class, its helping me learn a lot. This semester I will try not skip classes at all, work harder, do my assignment and turn them in in time, and ask for help.

My first impression of this class is very good. The Classroom is a lot bigger than at the McLeod location which I had been taking grade 11 courses at last semester. I really enjoy the blog idea it is very cool to broadcast my opinion about a certain subject or piece of work we have done in the previous day’s class or how I fell about a certain subject or topic that we have discussed. I’m very impressed with transactional focus so far it is very engaging and seems to be very group focused which is what I like. The building is awesome because there seems to be a lot of parking! This is better than McLeod where you had to park down the street. I’m hoping that’ll it be a smooth semester! I’m very excited to see where the course will take us and what I will learn.
This semester my plans to be successful are to make sure attendance is up. As a full time employee my days begin very early and with this course they tend to end very late. I’m also enrolled in math on Tuesdays and Thursday so it adds to my work load. But with a lot of hard work I know I will be able to give it my best shot and succeed. My whole thing is effort. If I put my best foot forward I know I can achieve it. So for this semester I want to remain focused and really just tackle it. This class I know will be harder and more is expected so changing my focus and bumping my expectations are key. Grammar is also something I need to work on. I feel it lacks and could improve drastically.

My first impressions of the class is very good. The class room is small but there is enough space for everyone. The parking is better then the Mcleod school that I attended a couple of years ago. The teacher Jody Ferguson is very nice and she teaches the class very well. She takes her time to explain the assignment so that everyone can understand.
Everyone in the class seems to be easy going and everyone gets along. I may not be there all the time do to work but I will make shure that my assingments will be done. I am looking forward to compleeting the class and moving on to the next class so I can get my grade 12 diploma. And then to RRC

My first impressions of this class are positive I am finding our work interesting so far. I am also taking two other classes here during the day and the atmosphere here is very calm and laid back. It makes it easier to learn knowing that everyone involved in my learning process is aware that yes, we are adults so some things may be new to us and we may need a bit of help and possibly extra time spent on certain assignments. My classmates seem to be a good bunch and it actually turns out I knew a classmate from many, many years ago. My teacher seems very down to earth and makes it comfortable to be in her class. I look forward to doing the future assignments, well maybe not having to speak in front of the class I think instead of that I would rather do a novel study and review.
This semester I plan on taking in as much as I can in each class and paying close attention to the details needed in each assignment. I will spend as much free time as possible on each assignment to ensure it is my best quality work.

My first impression of this class was WOW what a large class! I had attended a class at this location for the first term so the building was not new to me. When I seen the teacher I thought, hey she is young that’s a good sign, should be a refreshing new style of English class compared to what I remembered from high school. I did not know what to expect on the first day, what kind of work we would be doing? Maybe we will read some books, I was looking forward to that as long as it was a good book that kept my interest. Write an essay explaining our opinion about the book. I was sure there would be class discussion and probably some dreaded public speaking. I was very surprised that we would be doing a weekly blog, yickes writing stuff for how many people too see! The course outline is definitely different than what I thought we would be doing but I am looking forward to gaining positive writing skills.
I will succeed as an adult student. I plan on attending all if not most classes and will complete all of my work to the best of my ability, failing is not an option for me.

My first impressions of this class on the first day were that I was a little intimidated by the amount of students in the class and the room was small. I was very nervous and full of anxiety which prolonged the class. After sticking it out the entire class, I got a lot more comfortable with my class mates and the teacher. Everyone has a different story on why and how they ended up here. After hearing a little about the teachers’ background and getting to know brief summaries on each person with the ice breaker the first day opened my eyes to possible friendships and making attending class even more motivating. This is not my first time attending this adult learning centre. I have previously attended a few courses but never gave it a chance and dropped out. Being out of high school for a while really affected my social skills and how I communicate with others. This is the first time since elementary school that I have actually enjoyed going to class. Having a teacher who is right side along with you, very understanding and compassionate to everybody’s needs extremely helps with wanting to continue coming to class. When it comes to the work we have been given, I find it to be minimal yet difficult at times. It’s hard to stay focused sometimes in class mainly because I work best on my own but I’m adjusting well.
To ensure I pass this course I plan to have good attendance, complete all my assignments and to ask for help if I am struggling with something. I am very motivated and have a lot of support to succeed which also pushes me to achieve my goal of getting my English grade 12 credit.

My first impression of this class so far is that I enjoy having something to do. I want to get my grade 12 and eventually go to red river. I wish they could get something other than coffee and water for us to drink. They should get a drink dispenser with bottled drinks like Gatorade, or five alive.
This semester I would like to get my grade 12 I have two other classes in this building some times its hard how to manage my time to get assignments handed in on time. With other classes its easy to get assignments mixed up on due date. This semester I want to try and get time better managed and not to procrastinate and stay focused on assignments

My first impressions of this class were good ones. I feel that the work is meeting my needs in terms of helping me learn in English. I like the work that Jody has put together for us so far. So far this is the best English class that I have been in that I can remember because the work is not too hard but not too easy. Also I have already learned that while editing my work to put an indent in every paragraph I wright and with all the righting she got us to do so far I feel that I will be a much better writer by the end of this course and I think that she is very helpful when explaining the assignment’s. To better help me understand what I am doing. It seems like my classmates are pretty nice so far. I think that the work we plan to do is going to help me become a better writer with all the practise we will be getting. I think that the blogs are a good idea because righting about the class will help us keep track of what we are learning so that we can remember what we are learning. The class outline is very helpful because it explains the marks we will be getting on Cretan projects and assignment’s so that we are aware of how to pass the course. Also it describes what are responsibilities are so that we don’t mess up and fail the course. I will make sure I pass this course by doing all my homework on time, editing it before handing it in, and putting in my best effort.

As a lot of people are the first time they walk into a class, I was a little nervous because I didn't know what to expect of the teacher and the classmates. Everyone seem to be nice though and we get along well. I've been to this adult learning center before for psychology. Before I started this english I was in the same english class with Jan but i failed that class so I'm going to set it as a goal to go forward and do much better and not miss so many classes. I've been really bad with group work projects, and well, doing homework in general so I'm going to step that up as well with a little more support and I really need to ask more questions.

My grade 12 English class is an important part for learning more and getting my grade 12 finished. At first when I saw the building I didn’t think it was the right building because it looked to small but when I went inside I was at the right spot. It was a very big class the first week so I was kind of worried because I don’t concentrate very well with allot of people around me. But I was told that the class was going to get smaller, and the second week it was smaller so I was happy. My teacher Jody Ferguson is very easy to understand and it looks like I am going to be able to get allot of help from her if I need it.
This semester I will make sure to be here every class I can, and hand in all my work. I also want to learn something in this class so I am going to push myself to ask for help and try new things.

My first impression of the class was a positive one. I was very pleased to have Jody as my teacher again. I find I do well in her teaching environment. I recognized a couple of my classmates from last semester, but there is also a healthy mix of newer students. Everyone seems to get along great! I find the room is an adequate size for the class we have, and that on most nights there are enough computers to accommodate nearly everyone. The work that we have done is of reasonable difficultly, and we are always given a reasonable amount of time to complete assignments. As far as the up-coming semester goes, I will ensure my success by showing up to my classes and doing my work while I’m there. I will also prioritize myself at home so that I can get my homework done on time.

My first impressions of the class room were very positive. I mean the class room could be bigger, and there can be some distractions at times (pizza place next door) but it could be worse. On the positive note there’s tons of help, they have a lab set-up all the tools we need are here. It is my first time attending the learning center. My classmates seem like a really good group of people. It's nice to see a small unfamiliar group of people quickly shed any insecurity’s in order to participate in class, just makes things easier. I like how the teacher (Jody) really takes the time to explain the material that we are working on, and encourages the group/individual participation. The material that we work on is definitely what I wanted to take (as an academic refresher) in order to work on fine tuning my reading and writing skills for R.R.C. in the fall. So I look forward to the upcoming material, in order to be challenged.
To succeed as an adult student this semester I will most definitely apply as much spare time as possible to my assignments and homework, continuously identify any weak areas and work at correcting them , and to make sure that I ask for help if needed in order to do so. Doing these few things is and has worked in my other classes (Math Cons. Gr.12/Microsoft program classes). Basically do everything opposite of what I did in High school. Lol.

When i got to the school my first impression was "fucckkk" work all day then come to school at night, well guess it severs me right for not getting it done when i was supposed to. The class room is small as hell and the washrooms are in a storage closet, my first thought was can they hear me piss, but i don't care its either that or piss outside.
Anyways, well other then those little problems the classmates seem to be ok, doesn't really matter they are here to fix grades or to graduate, all in all doesn't matter to me i am here to get it out of the way and finish it so that if i do want to go to school for anything else I will be able to go and not have to worry about having my grade 12.
The only problem I see having with class is showing up and being on time, when work comes up I always go no matter where it is the farther the better and the more i make.
I will ensure that I will pass because English wasn't a hard topic for me, it's more of just speaking to/ infront of people, But i plan on showing up and annoying people until the end.

Pretty well everything seems cool with this class. The people are easy going and pleasant to talk to, the general environment is pretty relaxed and I don’t dread coming to class. I enjoy that the space here at the Transcona location is small and cozy. The fresh coffee made every class is a nice touch. Jody seems like a good teacher who is patient and always willing to offer help to anyone who needs it. She always makes sure her instructions are well explained and understood by everyone, that will make things a lot easier on everyone.
So far our class assignments have been fairly easy and strait forward, which is nice at first so we have a chance to get into our writing groove. I’m looking forward to some more challenging work coming up. I feel confident in my reading and writing comprehension skills so I’m not really too stressed about getting through the semester.
To make sure of my success this semester I will basically just keep up the same habits as my past few courses I have recently taken. Keeping my work and notes organized, planning specific times to complete assignments at home when I know I will have some time to myself (which can be tricky), and basically just staying focused on my short and long term goals without getting too distracted by things that are more fun.
-Kari.

I had a good first impression of this class. I don’t think there is necessarily anything that seemed extraordinary, but I love English in general, so I had a good feeling to begin with. I hope I will be challenged in this class and that I will be able to do assignments that interest me. Writing is my favourite part of English, but I also enjoy reading and reflecting on what I’ve read. I know the class has just begun, but I feel like what we’ve covered so far has been fairly simple and generic. Except for this blog though, I find I have to really think about what I am feeling about these questions and that the answers aren’t just coming to me as I expected they would. This is a good thing because it’s forcing me to reflect on how I feel about the class.
I will ensure that I will succeed by showing up to every class. I am not worried because I tend to thrive in courses I am interested in. In a different English class last year, my final mark was 98.9%. It is my best subject. I plan to not only succeed in this class, but in the other class I’m taking right now which is Career Development. I am going to graduate at the end of this semester, not only with extra credits, but I also hope to be valedictorian. My biggest problem is procrastination. I hope to overcome this, though, because I would like to get a final mark above 95%.

My first impression of this class was that it may be more difficult with such a large class to get the help that i may need but it seems so far that everything is going to be fine. All my classmates seem to be good people as well. As for the work and future assignments that we have to do i think they should be fairly easy and interesting for me to complete. I think this should be a fairly easy course for myself and hope to complete it with a decent grade. I am hoping this semester to be able to attend most classes and keep up with all assignments to insure that i succeed in this course to receive my dipolma in June.

I thought this class would be in an actual school because I signed up at McLeod…which is a school, but I wasn’t really that surprised. I didn’t know what to expect of my classmates. Some are younger than I thought they would be (or maybe I just feel old because I’m a 40 year old stud, oh yeah! Just kidding). I generally feel comfortable with the whole experience of this place.
I’m into the work we’ve done so far. I enjoyed writing my bio because I’m a fan of biographies but I have never thought of actually writing my own. I think everyone should write their own biographies to reflect and examine their lives. It’s fun to see where you’re at and it may make for a better future.
I’m looking forward to the future projects and think the course outline is good from what I can remember.
To ensure I succeed as an adult student, I’m going to make sure I actually do my homework and not let it pile up, be nice and courteous to everyone and arrive on time to all classes… Jesus, this sounds like I’m apologizing for something. Well, that is what I’m going to do.

My first impression of this class was good, when I walked into the class room at Trans- adult ed I was very nervous. The class room was small and very full and there was lots of classmates. This is my first time having Jody as a teacher and my first time attending trans-adult ed. It seems like it will be a pretty good year and a good class. The work we have done so far has been good and the course outline looks okay. I am finding some of the work we do difficult, but i know that i am going to be able to accomplish my goals of passing and achieving my grade 12.

My first impression of this class was everyone seemed pretty nice, students and teacher. People seemed interested in the class and the teacher made it sound tough, but not that scary. I have been at river east adult education before, but never in this building. Seems a little small but as long as they don’t try to jam to many people in it should be all good. I am looking forward to learning more about my language and to carry on with my grade 12 diploma. In order to succeed this semester I really plan on cracking down on my work, focusing less on my sports, and be more self-motivating.

My first impression of the class was wow, i didn't realize that it was the building. Ithought it was just an office. After I attended the first class i was very pleased with the teaching and the atmisphere. I’m very impressed with transactional focus so far it is very engaging and seems to be very group focused. When i attended Mcleod it was very different it was alot of individual work and just getting told to do an assignment and just get it done, here you get more of an explanation on how to do assignments.
My goals to succeed in this class is to try and get perfect attendence, and to get all assignments done and to my 100% ability. This is the only credit i need to finish my grade twelve and to move on to my carrer as a corectional officer. with all thats on my plate right now its difficult because with working twelve hours a day mostly everyday it is hard plus having a ten month old daughter but thats no excuse i need to get it done.

My first impressions of this class were that it seemed it would be a fun environment to get through my grade 12 English once again, because the teacher seems to be very down to earth and someone that you can relate to and talk to without feeling intimidated. This is my first time at this school, because I did graduate high school I just came here to upgrade my English and my math, to get into nursing. So far the work seems fairly straight forward, I enjoyed last class when we were doing the writing variables, I like seeing a teacher get excited and involved in the teachings, it helps me stay focused and want to learn and know more about the subject. I’ve been in types of class room settings where there are people from all walks of life and not all the same age, but this specific scenario seems different than college or university because we all want to either get more out of life and finish high school or just upgrade and get on with our lives, like myself. We all kind of have the same goal in mind and that’s pretty impressive.
This semester I am taking two classes, so I’ll have to juggle that with a baby boy that demands my attention all the time. I am determined though to get through both classes with good marks. I’ve always had my priorities pretty straight, so I can prioritize my time with school and home life. For example when my son is napping or just quietly playing I do my school work, or I get most of what I can get done in class and try to leave school work at school so that I don’t have to be juggling so much.
