"Love Is Like A Rose." This is not from a song or a poem, it is just
something I thought of. The stem is strong and sturdy just like the base of
a good friendship should be. The thorns are sharp and hurtful just like when
something sad happens that hurts the heart. The petals; soft and beautiful
like the special times that two people share together.

"Every passing minute is another chance to turn it all around." - from the movie 'Vanilla Sky'. This is one of the quote that I usually have on my mind. No matter what you're going through, instead of making it worse, lets turn the situation around and no waste another minute. It is hard to let go of some things in life and is hard not to feel ungry, but if you think about it, we got time to make things better. This quote to me is very important specially if your going through a hard time with a family member. Life is too short to waste, thats why I like to be positive.

For my major assignments I really felt I was struggling with my structure in wording and organizing my ideas effectively. I have been practicing by doing my blog entry and trying to expand on them and really work on my grammar. I recently outside class have been thinking about the use of language and how it affects me. I have changed my language in a lot of ways lately to really help commucate my message . My plan for success is to make a proper plan and stick to the plan I make and by using the planning tools I have learnt from previous classes.

The sentence I find interesting is from the song Old Man by Neil Young. (I've been first and last look at how the time goes past) So much can be said in just this one sentence. But to keep it short it's basically saying how fast life will pass you by. As a child we wish to be older so we can do what we want. When we are older we wish to be younger. When you feal like your on top of the world it can come crashing down on you. All the decisions that you make will have an affect on your life. Wouldn't it be great to have a second chance in life knowing the knowledge of having lived your life.

Some days are diamonds
Some days are stone
Sometimes the hard times
won't leave me alone.
These are some of the lyrics from the John Denver song "Some days are diamonds". These lyrics are nothing unique but they are special to me, my Uncle who was murdered and whom I was very close to used to say this all the time. Some days are diamonds. To me it means that there are going to be good days and bad days and sometimes those bad days may seem like they last forever. You just have to fight your way through it and persevere. He has been gone for nine years and to this day when things are getting tough I find myself saying this to others the way he said it to me "Some days are Diamonds". This specific line from the song means so much to me that I have it tattooed on my right foot in honor of my Uncle.

One of my favorite quotes is from the song Take a Minute by K'naan "Any man who knows a thing knows he knows not a damn damn thing at all". To me, this oxymoron quote expresses the wisdom one may have gained through his or her experience in life but at the same time knowing how much more there is to learn everyday no matter the life experiences you may have had. Just when you think you know everything about something or somebody, surprise, you didn't.

I couldn’t think of any unusual use of language off the top of my head so I decided to search the internet. For this blog, I found a phrase from song lyrics that I felt had significant relevance to this assignment. "The trouble with you is the trouble with me, got two good eyes, but you still don't see." - Grateful Dead. I have never heard of this band but was pulled to these lyrics. I had to re-read and think about it for a little while before getting any kind of response. From this lyric, I gathered that the person talking is stating that many of us are a lot alike. We have two eyes but don’t really see what’s right in front of us. Many of us are oblivious to many simple and comprehensible things in life. We don’t see the meaning, truth, the overall picture of something because we are only focussing on the exterior and what we want to see and believe. I feel that this phrase is absolutely true and can be correlated to this day and age in life.

"There are two ways to be rich, make more or desire less." I have seen this saying on one of the crafts I had on my basement wall once and i have heard others say it before as thier favorite quote. I like this quote because it is plain and simple/ black and white. It means that you shouldn't want to be rich with money. You can be rich by desiring less. If you disire less money than you are already rich. I like this quote because I have always been thankful for the things that I have and desire less. So I think that makes me rich.

“Know what you are told, which is nothing”- (Megatron)
This is a quote from Transformers 3, which is one of my favourite movies. I chose this because the first time I heard it, it made me laugh. The reason it makes me laugh is because he is telling another character that he doesn’t know anything, but does it in a way I have never heard before in my life. Also when he says it he is not just implying it to the other character, but in fact telling him that he actually knows nothing.

"com'mon you B*T*H" not one day goes by that i don’t get told that, its the words that got me to do a bunch of stupid stuff, thing's that people in the right mind wouldn’t do, and no idea why i ended up doing them, guess i cant say no. I have went out on edges 250 ft in the air, where other guys would panic, i have totalled quads and snowmobiles trying stupid jumps, i have lived the best and survived the worst, once trying to go down a hill in the inside wheel of a dry and hit a tree which hurt like hell, and not realizing that there were trees at the bottom of the hill till i hit one. I used to buy junk cars that barely ran and me and some other smart buddies would drive around the yard crashing into each other until parts of cars where laying everywhere then finish them off with the skid steer tractor. Those were just a little bit of the things i did because of those words and because of those words is part of the reason i will not drink anymore

“When Violet eyes get brighter, and heavy wings grow lighter; I’ll taste the sky and feel alive again.” Owl City : Vanilla Twilight.
When I listen to this portion of the song I connect with the emotions involved in getting through some sort of struggle, accepting the pain and being able to recognize that as time passes your emotional anguish will eventually relent and you can get back to enjoying the things that bring joy into your life.
I am crazy about the way this song writer puts together words in a way that describes a feeling that I know I’ve felt before, but wouldn’t exactly know how to recognize it or find a way to translate it. This happens all the time when I listen albums by this artist and it was difficult to choose just one quote.
Kari.

“Change isn't easy... changing the way you live means changing what you believe about life. That's hard... When we make our own misery, we sometimes cling to it even when we want so bad to change because the misery is something we know. The misery is comfortable.”
― Dean Koontz
I find this quote to be especially powerful to me because I think it describes me. For example: I have moved about every six months since I was 16. I always find a reason to leave. I always say I hate moving and I wish I had a steady place to live, but deep down I know I am afraid to make a long term commitment to one place or one person. That is only one example of many. I am scared to try to make changes to my life to make my life better because even though it may be an improvement, it would still be change. I think Dean Koontz really captured the way a lot of people feel with this quote. It is brilliant and I wouldn’t expect anything less from him.

"And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years." - Abraham Lincoln
Seriously, I googled quotes because i could not think of anything off the top of my head, and i need to get my blogs done asap. Other than that this does have a true meaning that i 100% believe in. Most people try to go by this and the other quote, "Live everyday to your fullest." and sometimes it's difficult but it's what's best. I believe you can live 100 years of your life but if in those 100 years you've done nothing or acheived nothing you ever wanted to do you've really not had much of a long living life. So really, live life to the fullest, you can only go up from here, you wouldn't be where you are right now if it wasn't from learning from your mistakes and doing what you believe in, make your years count!

I don't know if you would call these lyrics unusual but they're definitely interesting. I'm not sure I fully understand them, but I think they are absolutely fantastic and creative. The song is "I am the Highway by Audioslave. If anyone has their own interpretation of these lyrics I would love to hear them.
I am not your rolling wheels
I am the highway
I am not your carpet ride
I am the sky
I am not your blowing wind
I am the lightning
I am not your autumn moon
I am the night
The night

Didn't know any unusual lyrics or quotes. Just picked a random one i like.
"A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing."
George Bernard Shaw
This quote to me means life can be good life can be rough, making mistakes and trying to fix them is much better than making no mistakes and doing nothing, life is short it can disappear at any time do something with it well its around!

Most of my quotes come from Tupac, since nothing else i watch or listen to does not have that much meaning. But one of my favourite is short but to the point, "If you can make it through the night, there's a brighter day." You can take it how you want it, but to me that means no matter what the situation, all you got to do is get through it and then it will get better. I think that is pretty powerful.

"what goes up, must come down."
Obviously everyone has heard this one a million times, and its for just that reason i chose it. It's one of the most versatile commonly used phrases in our language. It can be applied to nearly anything in life, whether physical, or metaphorical.

"The only thing in life achieved without effort is failure."
I really like this quote because, it is so true. Whatever you do, you have to do it with effort, whether it's going to school or just doing your job everything need effort to do it right. But if you want to do something and not try at it at all than the only thing you'll get is failure. Some people think they can get through life without putting effort into anything, I just think those people are lazy and probably have never had to work for anything in their life because everything get handed to them on a silver platter. But I feel people like that never succeed anyway and are probably the loneliest people in the world.
I also like this quote a lot because it reflects on my life too, everything I do is for my son and I, and if I don't work hard at it then I won't get us anywhere. I need this class and my math to get into Nursing at Red River and that's what I'm striving for, so I can give my son a good life.
