On the 11th of December the 2nd last week of school, we visited the Perth Mint for an end-of-year excursion.
It was a little bit like an exhibition where you could see different items. Our guide was showing us the types of gold that were found by some men, one was called The Golden Eagle. After that he showed us the 1 cent coins and 2 cent coins and the other coins that were used a long, long time ago. There was also a coin that was made of real gold but was really, really huge.
Then a man named Trent came in and asked us to find a seat in the show room. We each took a seat and there was just enough left for another class to sit in. He explained how gold was made, so he wore special material clothing to make sure he didn't get burnt. Then he walked over to this gas-stove like box, he opened it then, with special tweasers grabbed a hot peice of gold out! It got cooled down in cold water then showed us the gold.
After that we just had a look at some other things made of gold there was also a peice of gold that you could lift up, but one side of it was stuck to the glass so you couldn't actually steal it.
At first I didn't know it would be this interesting but when I got there I really enjoyed it, it was one of the most interesting excursions I have been to.

This term we are doing Edu dance (Educational dance). Our teacher is Mrs. Jones. This term we are dancing along to the song that most of us know: "Move your feet".
We have edu dance every teusday, after sports. I am not very good at dancing so I find edu dance really hard, but it is still really fun.

On November, we were showing and explaining to our buddies the plants that we grew earlier in the year.
My buddy is Kaitlyn, so I showed Kaitlyn the chickpeas and lentils. They were already really big because it been a term since we planted them. Some of the chickpeas were already starting to grow out of the plants.
After me and Kaitlyn finished having a look at our plants, we spotted some beans from another classes plants that were on the floor, so we opened them up and ate them.

In class today (28th of September) Evan brought in his Guinea Pig, Notch. Evan was telling us he named it after a game creator that made a game that used to be his favourite, Minecraft. Notch was brown, black and white in colour. He just got Notch a few weeks ago and he said he puts Notch in his own room. Evan even told us that if Notch really doesn't like someone it would bite.
After Evan told us about Notch, he put Notch back in the box just when he put Notch back, he realised he needed to clean his pants because Notch had pooed a little on it. I enjoyed listening to what Evan had to say.

We had a very, very exciting day on the 25th of September. It was Learning Journey night! Learning Journey is a special activity that happens at our school once every year and it is where you show you parents what you have done in school.
Before the learning journey, Mrs.Lowe and Mrs.Zhang gave us an activity on Keynote. In Mrs.Lowe's activity, we made a slideshow with all the subjects to show our parents what we liked and mosty what we did. In Mrs.Zhang's activity it was also a slides how but typed up in Chinese, this one was about what we liked and about our family members and that kind of stuff.
There also wasn't JUST the learning journey, there was a book fair where they sold books and stationary and also there were games and activities in Mrs.Zhang's room.
Me and my parents really enjoyed the learning journey.

In the last couple of weeks I have been really, really interested about the Olympics, I watch it almost every night and morning.
I like to watch the Running/Sprinting, Hurdles, Gymnastics, Swimming, Table tennis, Cycling, sometimes Basketball and Tennis! If I got to pick a sport to join it would probrably be either Tennis, Sprinting, Hurdles or Swimming.
For the Hurdles, I really love watching Sally Pearson because she is really great at Hurdles and she represents Australia. Australia's rank so far is around 15-30.
I hope Australia does well in the Olympics.

A Performance at Burswood

At Burswood, the thirty-first of July, there was a Performance that I took part in. The choir and the Chinese dancing students had to be at Burswood theatre by six o'clock. In the performance, the choir sang a song I think was called "Pretty little fish", and the dance was a hankercheif dance, while they sang that song the dancers danced along, our dance was just like telling a story just by dancing. The first part of the dance was that the year six's and five's had to form a long line and shake the hankercheifs around in our hands. While we are doing that the fish, would be behind the long line so when the dragon gets out back to its place, the fish would appear. The last part was mainly a simple dance with hankercheifs. After the dance we got to watch other schools peform.
At first, I was really nervous and excited at the same time, but when I finally finished I enjoyed it a lot and I finally got to see Burswood theatre.

Plant Presentations

In our class we have just done some plant presentations. In the plant presentations we had to include some information of things like what pollination is or what we use plants for in our lives. Also we had to include some pictures to our presentation.
Mrs. Lowe gave us four choices, one you can do your presentation in a Pages document, two you can put your presentation in Keynote and make a slide show, three you can craft your own poster or four craft your own booklet.
Most of the people in our class selected Keynote and made a slideshow. But I chose Pages, mainly because it is much more easier to keep in uniform and it does not have too many distractions in it.
If I didn't choose Pages I think I would have picked the Poster, because I really love to do things like crafting and in a poster you can express your ideas by crafting your very own things. I was quite confident that I could do this activity.
Some of the presentation were interesting and some were not quite but I had a pleasent time listening to what everyone had to say in their presentation.

Studying Zong Zi

Recently in Chinese class we have been studying about Zong Zi. Our teacher, Mrs. Zhang told us the Chinese story about how and why China created Zong Zi. We lernt that we only make Zong Zi for a very special chinese holiday called "The Dragon Boat Festival". Zong Zi is a food it is very simple to make, you just need to put together some sticky rice and right in the middle of the rice you put some meat, then you wrap it up in a special leaf. You can add some honey if you want. You have to boil it overnight. Mrs. Zhang taught us how to wrap the leaf up so it won't have any holes or crinkles.
We didn't get to eat the Zong Zi itself but we got to taste a tiny bit of rice with honey. Mrs. Zhang gave us permission to bring one or two of the leaves home to make our own if we wanted.
Through that experience I also learnt what the Dragon Boat Festival was about, it is a race that people in China do. They use a boat with a dragon on it, they do it in one of the rivers. They put dragons on the boat because part of the story is that once in China, a special poet named Qu Yuan drowned himself in the river and the monster might get to him, the monster is scared of dragons.
I enjoyed learning about that very much.
