This article was about how Apple wanted the US to ban Samsung tablets. For a while, Samsung and Apple have had patent wars. Whenever Apple releases a new product, companies, especially Samsung, will release cheaper products almost exactly similar to Apple's, kind of like knockoffs. Last month, the chief executives of both Apple and Samsung attended a court ordred mediation in North California, but it failed to produce a settlement.

This article caught my eye because it involves Apple, and I like to check up on Apple because several products I used are from Apple. I also have disliked that Samsung has been making knockoffs of Apple products, and will not admit to it. This article relates to our class since this dispute has an effect on us. If Apple continues to weaken because of Samsung, we will lose our source of hardware.

http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/technology-blog/first-available-4k-movie-look-great-world-first-003028464.html

This article is about a new advancement in high-definition visuals. So far, almost everyone is familiar with 720p or 1080p screens, which have clear, crisp, and lifelike pictures. But, recently there are 4K displays now, which actually have 4 times the resolution of the 1080p screens. Imagine how great it would be to see somethin in a 4K display. The only downside is that the 4K projectors cost about $26,000. Also, 4K projectors don't have much of an effect on smaller screens. But the invention/advancement sounds like a cool idea!

This article caught my eye because it was the top content on Yahoo News, so I figured that it would be interesting. I was surprised by the idea of 4K visuals, as the highest resolution I thought of was the 1080p. I was also surprised that Youtube has 4K viewing enabled. This applies to our class because we have made videos on i-Movie, so we have had experiences with resolutions.

This article was about Mike Hanley and his daughter Jessica at Jessica's bat mitzwah. They performed a father-daughter dance. The dance started out slow and cute, but then the duo quickly transformed into a funky choreographed routine. Their dance was a medley of several of my favorite songs! This article also mentioned that there have been other similar dance routines.

This article caught my eye because it reminded me of the "JK wedding dance" where a couple surprised their guests with a well-choreographed wedding entrance. I really enjoyed the video, because it was so adorable. This article relates to our class because it details how a video or even the event became popular because it was shared digitally. This shows just how quickly the internet progresses. In fact, why don't you just watch the video yourself!

http://news.yahoo.com/facebook-ceo-turns-28-ipo-could-100b-gift-192840074--finance.html

This article is about Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Facebook. He has just turned 28 years old, and according to Spencer Stuart, he is exactly half the age of the usual S&P CEO. Facebook is also beginning to sell stock, and that's going to bring Zuckerberg a lot of new responsibilty. Being only 28, many businessmen question him. For example, Zuckerberg is known for wearing his classic hoodie. Nevertheless, he has had guidance from other more experienced businessmen, and Facebook has been thriving.

This article caught my attention because I love Facebook. I use it weekly and I have it on my phone. I have also heard about Zuckerberg selling stock. What I did not know was that he had just turne 28 last week. It is so surprising that such a young man has become a billionaire without the use of autotune. This article relates to our class because Zuckerberg became successful from a famous internet application known as Facebook.

http://gma.yahoo.com/four-old-young-too-young-072532737--abc-news-topstories.html

This article details the repurcussions and the large discussion that erupted after Lindsay Cross posted about her four-year-old daughter Brenna's love for applying make-up on Mommyish.com. Lindsay shared that applying make-up became a way for her to bong with her daughter. Many people, including myself, disagree with Lindsay in allowing a toddler to wear make-up in public. A psychaitrist, Henry Paul, agreed that 4 years old is definitely way too young for a child to start covering make-up.

When looking through articles, this one caught my eye. When I was young, I remember that I loved make-up. Whenever I had a dance recital or a party, my mother did my hair, got my nails done, and applied jut a little bit on lipstick and eye-liner. But nowadays, my mother is wary of me applying just lip gloss. I think that a little bit of make-up is okay, but not as much as Brenna, from the article, does. This applies to our clas because I often see many girls apply unnatural amounts of make-up on their face, and I just don't think it's right. But I suppose it's up to them to live their lives as they want to.

So, this article is about decoding the infamous flash mob from the Sydney Apple Store. Around last week, a big black bus ame up in front of Sydney's Apple store. The writing on the bus said "Wake Up". Several people emerged from the bus, chanting "Wake up". Many people speculate that Samsung was behind this stunt, but unfortunately, Samsung denied any sort of involvement. Some other possible suspects are RIM, Nokia, ZTE, and HTC.

This article caught my eye because I had heard about the event a little bit. I never really wondered who the culprit could have been. But now, I really want to know. I feel like the "Wake up" bus was not even a company's marketing techniques, but just a bunch of anti-Apple people driving around town. This article relates to Computers because it's about Apple. The computers we use in our school are from Apple. Maybe the bus's message was to our school as well, due to the large amounts of Apple products that we use and own.

http://news.yahoo.com/10-uses-google-earth-made-positive-impacts-world-184618928.html

This article, which I found on Yahoo News, basically describes some of the useful aspects of Google Earth. In fact, Google Earth's creators, who had dubbed the program Keyhole earlier, perceived the application to be the ultimate video game. But now, through the Google Earth Outreach program, G.E. has become a means for public benefit organizations and non-profit organizations to communicate and tell storis worldwide. For example the relief workers used Google Earth for a crisis response after Japan's 2011 horrific earthquake. Today, Google Earth has become a tool for grassroots mobilization, environmental protection and disaster response.

To be honest, this article caught my eye because I use Google Earth for fun. I don't use it for aiding in disaster relief, I use Google Earth to look around the world. It was surprisingly informative in a positive way to learn about the way people use the tool to help each other. This relates to the Computer Applications course because one of the aspects of the course relates to the internet applications used daily. I believe that at this point, Google Earth qualifies as one of those internet applications and I hope that it's use vastly increases to benefit other people around the globe.

So far, Mr. M has posted several videos that generally teach us. I like the Screenr videos because they show exactly how to do things and they are very helpful. However, sometimes the videos are long and a little confusing. I do not like the videos with just speakers explaining what to do. I like being shown, and so I think using Screenr videos is more effective and helpful. But altogether, thank you Mr. M, for taking the time to make and find these videos.

http://tech.fortune.cnn.com/2012/03/29/zuckerberg-facebook-china/?iid=T_Blogs

This article briefly described what some companies are doing in the world, especially in China. Apple and Facebook both had representatives in China planning to expand to China. Noia is releasing a new smartphone. PC-makers are relaeasing Ultrabooks, their response to the MacBook Air. Dell has stopped selling smartphones in the United States. There are also rumors about Sony's next PlayStation console, "Orbis. All these companies are planning ahead.

This article interested me because it discusses the plans of Facebook and Apple, both of which I use every day. I am interested in what the Ultrabooks will be like. I never even knew that Dell was selling smartphones. This article relates to our class because we learn about the advancements in technology. The very hardware products we use in class are advancements. The very advancements being discussed in the article could become the next iPod, so the world will just have to wait.

http://money.cnn.com/technology/interactive/timeline-of-the-future/?source=cnn_bin

This article was more of an illustration, a graphic. It showed and indicated some possible inventions that could be used in the future. Unlike many people who think that we'll have flying cars in the future, this article was generally realistic. The article listed some plans for inventions by certain companies. Each one of the images of a possible invention had a link to a page with mroe inventions. Some examples of the listed inventions was a fridge that knows what's inside by Microsoft, a permanent lunar colony by Newt Gingrich, more advanced car batteries by IBM, and several more ideas.

This article interested me because I often wonder about the future. We probably won't have anything like flying cars, but I feel that in twenty years, iPods will become objects of the past, and will be replaced by much more advanced products. Our society is constantly progressing, with new inventions happening all the time. This article relates to our class because our class is centered around current technology. In five or ten years, the course will probably advance as well. Instead of learning about Word and Dreamweaver, students will be learning about newer programs.

http://www.cnn.com/2012/03/29/tech/gaming-gadgets/household-apple-products/index.html?hpt=hp_t3

This article was about Apple's prominence in our daily lives. In the beginning of this century, Apple was not doing well, almost becoming bankrupt. But after Steve Jobs returned, the iPod and the iPad came about, and Apple became really successful. Recently, CNN conducted a survey, and found that 51% of US households have at least one Apple product. Very few companies have become so immersed into our lifestyles.

This article interested me because I use Apple products daily. I have an Apple laptop, an iPod and an iPhone. My father has an iPad. My whole family loves Apple products, and I know most people like Apple as well, but I never realized how strong Apple's presence is in our lives. This is relative to our class because we use Apple products. Our Media Center has Apple laptops. Several of the teachers in our school have Apple laptops. It's odd to wonder what our lives would be like without Apple products.

http://money.cnn.com/2012/03/29/markets/best_buy/index.htm?iid=Lead&hpt=hp_t3

This article generally discussed how Best Buy's stock went down 8% recently. Before, the stock was doing better than expected, according to Thomson Reuters analysts. But after news spread that Best Buy was closing down several of their stores 50 of their big stores, the stock went down. Instead of having big stores as they do now, Best Buy is planning to open up 100 smaller, stand-alone stores. This would save the company about $800 million, by 2015.

This article interested me because I go to Best Buy for all my Technological needs. If I want to get a new laptop or some new headphones, I would first go to Best Buy. I am surprised and a little disappointed that Best Buy is closing down some of their stores. I hope that Best Buy doesn't close down the big store near me. This article also relates to our class, because our own hardware could have come from either Best Buy or their competitors.

http://money.cnn.com/2012/03/07/markets/pandora/

This article gave a bried history about Pandora. Recently, Pandora's audience has been expanding, which should be good. But, Pandora has to pay an increasingly large amount of money in royalties. So, instead of making a profit, Pandora's shares have been stumbling. Unfortunately, they have a disappointing forecast for the future.

This article attracted me because I used to use Pandora for all my music, before iTunes. I didn't really like Pandora because it used to include random songs into my playlists and chosen songs. This article relates to our Computers class because in our class, we focus on using applications on the Internet, and Pandora is a sort of music application on computers.

http://www.slashgear.com/facebook-timeline-will-be-mandatory-for-brand-pages-march-30-01216426/

Starting March 30, all brand pages, like company or band pages, will have to convert to the Timeline. Recently, many people including myself, have converted to the Timeline. But, brand pages like bands or companies often would not convert to Timeline, because on the Timeline, those brand pages would have to completely redecorate. Brand pages won't be happy about it, but there's almost nothing any of us can do about it.

This article interested me because I recently switched my profile to Timeline. Personally, I like the Timeline better than the old Facebook layout, but many people do not. I think that it is not fair for Facebook to forcibly convert the Facebook layout into Timeline, but the writer was true in that we cannot do anything about it. This article relates to our class because Facebook is a social networking class that has evolved so much that part of it has become a storage device for our photos and documents. If our school administration allowed us to use Facebook in school, we could communicate with each other in a much more effective and efficient way.

http://edition.cnn.com/2012/02/14/tech/gaming-gadgets/ipad-3-apps-update/?hpt=hp_c2

This article is about speculating the features of the future iPad 3 and also analyzing the past advances in Apple products. According to the article, the upcoming iOS 5 will have a hidden panaroma camera, and advanced graphics in the games. The iMovie on the iPad 3 will be able to record a 1080p video, which is very high definition. The iPad 3 is probably going to be unviled during early March, so until then we can only wonder what its features would be like.

This article interested me because I like and enjoy Apple products on a daily basis. Apple products are probably the most convenient and efficient for me, so if Apple is releasing a new electronic device that is beyond what they have already accomplished, then it must be really amazing. I am interested in the advancements that there may be in the next Apple product. This relates to our class because Apple has many technological devices and in our class this semester, we will be learning to use most of Apple's various and useful applications.
