 Another Smartphone Competitor? money.cnn.com/2012/02/28/technology/boot_to_gecko/index.htm Flying in the face of both the Android and the iPhone's success, Mozilla (the company that created Firefox) has announced its new Smartphone OS, "Boot to Gecko". Gecko presents itself as a "Web-based OS" or an operating system that runs on the Web itself, using Web applications instead of having its own, isolated operating platform with its own applications to take up space.
