This is my TANIWHA art that we made in term 3.

We all made a poem for our taniwhas. This is mine!

T-aniwha is hungry for man

A-lways resting in his cave

N-ature does his bidding

I-n his slumber he dreams of peace

W-atch out or he will get you

H-aving a fish from his lake is bad luck

A-nother victom is dead

This is my power point I did with Rimu about what we had learnt about being safe when riding.

My picture book reflection:

Bike Safety: To be safe on the roads and my bike I learnt I had to:

Have a secure helmet, working brakes, oiled chain, pumped tyres,

No broken or bent spokes and no bent handle bars.

Picture Book: I then had to use my understandings of bike safety and write a picture book story that included some aspects of bike safety.

Illustrations: I also had to learn about illustrations – I carried out a survey about illustrations in picture books.

I found out that picture books have an average amount of two to three pictures on each page.

They have about thirty-five pages or less. The pictures can be drawn by hand or made on a drawing program

I then learnt and practised some techniques for illustrating picture books and included some of these in my picture book such as: Collage, dye, people with cut-out bodies, Indian ink and drawing.

To make my picture book interactive, I embedded links within my story and finally I entered it into the Feet First competition.

Our school won a Highly Commended Certificate and some picture books for our Digital Journey Picture Book stories.

Over the last few weeks we have been writing character discriptions of a topic of our choice. Heres mine!

My Silly Dog

You’ll probably see most Border Collies on farms rounding up sheep. Well my Border Collie, Poppy, isn’t a farm dog.

In fact she doesn’t like farms at all.

She is an adventurous playful dog who barks a lot. Poppy is a black and white Border Collie and is a girl dog. She has sharp, pointed teeth, shadow black eyes and thick, shiny white claws.

Poppy loves eating meat and dog biscuits as well as dog treats. She really loves tummy rubs and especially walks. And she always jumps on visitors. Poppy dislikes eating vegetables and like I wrote before, farms. She also dislikes going past the front of the truck while the engine is still running.

Poppy likes to run around outside if not taken for a walk (I also meant hassle) and loves playing with her ball.

Pappy’s strengths are chewing things into smithereens and she listens and obeys when she feels like. Her weakness is dropping the ball when told.

Poppy’s ambition is to be a completely trained canine and to be an agility dog.

Poppy is my favourite dog in the world!!!
