Future of Media

The topic of the future of media has come up frequently in the last few weeks and I found it a particularly exciting subject. I am a tad iffy on how I think things will play out; while I will not be one to burn books, I am thrilled about the prospect of what is to come. This video was shown to me and I thought it was a definite life changer. Whether or not it is even built, the imagination inside the idea and the talent in editing the video to make the visual so realistic is amazing. Lately, I just cannot get enough of these videos.

Bangarang - Skrillex
The beginning is the most attractive part of the song, and I greatly enjoy how they almost build up "suspense" in approximately the first ten seconds. I appreciate how the song isn't too overwhelming, quiet in some sections, where the audience is able to appreciate the superior effects that they incorporated into their song. Superior effects such as the "sirens," and the "stutter" of the voices, for lack of better technological terms.

United State of Pop 2009 - DJ Earworm
I enjoy this mix greatly! DJ Earworm makes a mix of the top charted music every year. It's basically Christmas for me everytime he uploads a new song. When someone is able to incorporate music that I love on its own, with others from the same category, in such a seamless fashion, that is true talent. DJ Earworm never ceases to impress me.

Lights - Ellie Goulding (remix by Bassnectar
This remix is a bit iffy for me, I enjoy the song on it's own (especially the first few seconds of building tension, as I mentioned before!) so I don`t strongly prefer this mix, since Bassnector cut that out. I respect the fact that they didn`t incorporate swears or anything vulgar such as that, which most remixes contain. The added bass, etc. makes a nice truck ride with subwoofers though :)

Not to be melodramatic or anything, but I would die without media - suffer greatly at the very least. The closest relationship that I have is with my iPhone. I regularly write sweet nothings in my "Notes" app for it. Not literally, but it knows how I feel.

I truly do think that if the world didn't have media, there would be complete anarchy. Things would be wildly misinterpreted; no "sorry I didn't make it to your poem reading last night, I have no phone to remind me" texts. Which wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing, missing that poem reading, but your friend would be super angry.

This becomes more substantial with the thought that world rulers could not converse with each other; how would we communicate what goods to export? We couldn't. So many problems arrising from this, and causing us to be "in our own world" even more than before. As if that were possible.

It is because of our reliance on media, getting the message across and all of the many other comforts it provides us with that this deprivation would be horrifying. We are USED to being babyfed all of this social information that shows up in people's profile descriptions, etc. that there is no need for handwritten letters or icebreakers anymore. Most people don't even know how badly they rely on their e-calendars, etc. and the shock that all of their stored information had all-of-a-sudden disappeared would petrify most.

You don't know what you've got 'til it's gone.

iPhone Commercial

This is what the world is coming to.
Excited to be blogging again, I did this before in Mrs. Crozier`s class but that was mostly about Treasure Island...I`m definitely going to like this one more. There is a broader range of topics to write about and I am somewhat used to the program.
On another note: I don't understand this whole "PC versus Mac" debate. That is a heated argument over a preference that most likely doesn't affect the person being offended by it. Why lose sleep over a technology choice? I now understand what my mom is talking about when she says "don't cry over spilled milk." Mac or PC doesn't determine my future husband, that's for sure. It is a bit frustrating hearing about how all Mac users are idiots because the program is too simple and whatnot. I ask you, WHAT is so bad about the program being simple? I don't have to stress about my computer - a silver lining that compensates for my excessive worrying. Less ulcers for me. After saying this, I realize I am contributing, except I will not walk into a coffee shop and refuse to buy a raspberry frappuccino because the cashier owns a PC. *sigh* What goes on in the mind of an astronaut accountant...
