Mr. Caughie opened my eyes to the daily life in Madrid and the enormous amount of Spanish culture exhibited in the streets of this grand city. It was enjoyable to hear a native's view of the city, yet it was a little weird hearing it from such an authoritive figure! The lesson made me appreciate learning how to speak Spanish from teachers who don't have the Spanish accent because it seems like it would be tough to learn when all of the syllables role together. Hearing about the bull fights interested me the most; I've always been interested in the two sides of the arguement over whether or not bull fights are animal cruelty. In fact, I would like to discuss this issue at length in class as it is very controversial, yet at the same time is such a large part of Spanish pride.
