We are a Yr 3 and 4 class and we live in an active volcano.... really! We love our city, with its geysers, mud pools, and thermal swimming. We love to find out about our country and the world, and are learning about blogging.

Dear Mum and Dad,
Today my friend got shot while he was going to the toilet. I was very sad.
Our trench has a roof. I was eating a biscuit when some of the Turks started shooting at us, so I threw my biscuit at one. He was screaming, as it went in his mouth. He choked on it and died.
I brought my pack of cards. While we were playing Last Card, a shell landed in our trench and some schrapnel went into my leg, badly injuring it. I am alright and still fighting. I have a new job - I pick out people and shoot them. I am a sniper!
The sun is going down and the moon is coming up. We have to sleep standing up, but I get to sleep in a chair because of my leg. There are rats crawling up your pants every five minutes.
I just wish this silly war would end so I can come home - I want some of Mum's famous lasagne again!
