5th Grade students explored the concept of positive and negative space. Each student found an image in a magazine that they felt represented a part of their personality and cut it out. They then created a design using shapes and lines. When painted their design in they considered the placement of their colors to create a balanced composition. When painting, students practiced the many techniques they learned to achieve neat, clean edges in their paintings.
