SUESSICAL

Suessical
On April fourth our class and most of the school went to the musical called Suessical. It was at the Conexus Art centre. There was a group called “do it with class.” That put it on. The whole point of this play/musical was to learn more about the author and his books.

It was about an elephant named Horton. He was one of the main characters. He had to do lots of things like sit on an egg , protect a dust speck and lots of other cool things. I thought some parts didn’t make sense. I really liked it and found it entertaining because there was always some thing going on. Lots of dancing and singing. I really liked the script because I have read all the books so I kind of knew what was going on.

I really thought that they did a good job. There were very believable. They played their characters very to the best of their ability. I thought that they were very loud. If that was me up their I would never have been able to do it. They gestured and made sure they were on task.

They did very good on the set, they even changed when needed. They even had props like a flower. The lights were great, they always put them on the person that was speaking. They were very bright. You could see at all times. The make-up was very good. But I didn’t really like the costumes. I didn’t like them because they weren’t for the character. For ex. the elephant wore a grey suit but that’s it. The sound was good. You could always hear. The sound effects were good too. They were loud. I didn’t notice an orchestra, but there could have been one. I think the audience really liked it. They clapped and cheered at the end. When I looked around everyone’s eyes were glued to the stage. I really liked the play. I thought it was fun to see. I have read all the books but to see it in real action. It was cool. I hope we go to see some

Article posted April 2, 2012 at 04:21 PM GMT • comment • Reads 85

What did you learn about pink shirt day that you didn't know before?

I learned that over 300 people take part in pink shirt day. Also that people wear pink shirts to try to stop bulling.

Did you have any connections to anything you read today that you would like to share?

I had a text to self because we just finished our bulling unit in health.

What do you think needs to be done in schools to stop bulling?

I think that people need to give bullies a really bad punishment. Such as getting expelled for a week.

How do you think you can make a difference?

I think I can make a difference by making sure adults see what some kids are doing to other kids. its really bad.

stop using the

1.I learned that that the "r" word can hurt lots of people. Also that people use the "r" word in schools and other places even though they shouldn't be.

2.No, I don't think that this will change the way I act because I never use that word. I think Its not nice to see people calling other people the "r" word.
3.Yes I think this is a good idea to ask people to stop using the "r" word. If everyone stops then no one will have hurt feelings or think they are dumb.

4. Our class can stay in for recess every time that someone says the word. If you say it more than 3 times they have to stay and write notes saying I will never use that word again. You would have to do that 100 times.

Animal Test

Article posted February 9, 2012 at 03:50 PM GMT • comment • Reads 85

I think that it's a bad idea to test stuff on animals. I think this because if you test medicine on animals you can give them an over dose and they can die. Also if you test makeup on them they can get a bad disease. Last if you test shampoo on the animals they might find it weird and try to get it off by doing stupid stuff. I think people can help by fighting back saying that you shouldn't test on animals. Another thing you can do is once you find out that it is tested on animals stop buying it.
That's what I think about testing stuff on animals.

Ecological Test

One thing I can do to change the world is recycle more. Like instead of putting paper in the garbage put it in recycle bin. Another thing I can do is eat less meat. So instead of eating so much meat eat more vegetables. Also I can reuse like wash plastic forks or knifes and reuse them. I can also change the light bulbs in my house to the swiggle ones to save electricity. Last I can ride my bike if somewhere is far away. That way I can be helping the earth by riding my bike instead of taking a car. That's how I can save the earth.

Hatchet

Article posted January 18, 2012 at 04:27 PM GMT • comment • Reads 79

1. Based on the first few chapters do you think you will like this book?

No! I don't think I will like the book. I think this because when we are reading I find it boring. Also I don't find it interests me.

2. Describe how you might feel if you were in a similar situation to Brian. What do you think you would have done the same as him? What do you think you would have done differently?

I would feel bad because the pilot died. I would feel sad because I miss my parents and that they are divorced. Also I would feel sore from the crash. I think I would have tried to fly the plane like Brian. I would have tried to land the plane before the engine died. Brian tried to land the plane after the engine died.

3. Make some predictions about what will happen in the upcoming chapters. Explain why you have made these specific predictions.

I think that with some more sleep he should be strong enough to try to get some food. I think this because he got up and got some water and after he did that he felt a bit better. I also think that his parents will get worried and send out a rescue team to try and find him.I think this because his dad would wonder why Brian and his plane haven't arrived and get worried.

4. What do you notice about Gary Paulsen's writing? Do you like his writing so far? what would you ask him if you had the opportunity to interview him?

I noticed that he repeats key words all the time. No,I don't really like his writing because it gets annoying. I would ask him why he likes to repeat those words over and over.

Fun Theory

Article posted December 8, 2011 at 03:45 PM GMT • comment • Reads 99

1) My favorite was the piano stairs. I liked it because when people go up and down it makes music. Also it made way more people use the stairs instead of the escalator.

2) No, because for the piano stairs where would you get keys big enough. For the bottle arcade it would work as long as someone could make it.

3) My idea was that every time you read a book you get a free movie. I thought this because it will help encourage kids to read more.
