Sadly I do not think that books will still be that popular  Only because there are already kindles and all those other types on e-reader things. I also don't really believe that there will be a type of trampoline that can read your weight to make you bounce higher.

Interview

Article posted June 19, 2012 at 03:23 AM GMT • comment • Reads 49

  • Imagine that you are a reporter who is interviewing a character in the novel (Betti, Mrs. Buckworth, Mr. Buckworth, George)- what questions would you ask?  Then imagine you are the character - what answers would you give?

  • Question for Mrs. Buckworth: How did you feel when Lucy broke her ankle, do you think it was Betti's fault?

  • When Betti does not include Lucy in her circus games, are you angry with Betti for not including her?

  • Out of all the things that happend at day camp, which one did you think was the worst?

  • Do you think Betti is a bad influence for George?

  • Like a mother, do you find that Betti's circus camp in the mud in your backyard is destroying the look of your backyard? Or do you encourage Betti to use her imagenation?

  • Answers:

  • I do not think that it was Betti's fault that my dear Lucy broke her ankle but I would like Betti to think more about the dangers that could occur when they are playing together.

  • I am a little disappointed that she cannot include my little Lucy but I understand that she finds Barbies and things strange as there are no such dolls where she is from.  I think that if Lucy doesn't use her Barbies and the dolls Betti makes they should be able to play together.

  • Ummmmm, well I found them all quite bad. But if I had to choose one out of all the incidents, it would be the one where she walks on top of the monkey bars and falls.

  • I do think that Betti is a little tough on George when he does things that they may not do in their country. I do think though that she cannot be faulted for disagreeing and not approving of our lifestyle. She is allowed to have her own opinion.

  • I definitely like my yard to look clean and organized like every mother but I do encourage her imagination because I do not want her to lose it.

PICFIC :)

Article posted May 31, 2012 at 03:28 AM GMT • comment • Reads 90

For my PICFIC I chose Wild Girl & Gran. The characters in this book are Wild Girl, Gran and the mum. Wild Girl and Gran share this very magical bond. Wild Girl and Gran both have very strong imaginations. This book takes place in the woods behind the girls house, in the girls favourite tree. I thought that the part when Gran gets sick and Wild Girl is not allowed into the hospital and when she does get in, she is, I guess you could say frightened with all the tubes and things attached to Gran and she won't answer to Wild Girl it is really all quite sad. I learned from this story that people do understand how your feeling sometimes even if they don't show it. Like when Wild Girl refuses her mothers help because she doesn't think that her mom understands how sad the loss of Gran is. Then she finds out that her mother did love gran just as much as she did. I would not recommend this book because I found it very confusing with all the imagination parts. But some people might not find that confusing even though I thought it was. I also thought that it was over all a very strange story line and very sad.

Melvil Dewey

Article posted May 24, 2012 at 02:58 PM GMT • comment • Reads 108

Melvil Dewey is a man who lived a very extraordinary life but sadly is not alive today. He was a librarian who invented a classification system used for books. It is called the Dewey Decimal System. The system includes grouping books into 10 categories. This system in useful because it helps make libraries more organized and helps you when you need a specific book you know which section to go to. Some examples of categories are, non-fiction, fiction, language and fine arts. A category that I have used this year is the non-fiction ( social sciences)  section when I checked out books on my country.

The book I would like to read is "Only the Good Spy Young'' by Ally Carter. I would like to read this book because Mrs. McVey recommended it to me and it sounds very intriguing. When the girl Cammie  goes to the Gallagher Academy for Exceptional Young Women (spies) danger follows her. Interesting ! I am so going to read this.

(sorry I don't think this is the first book)

Come Back

Article posted April 12, 2012 at 03:33 AM GMT • comment • Reads 133

The book I would like to read is Come Back by Vicki Grant. I would like to read it because it sounds very intriguing! Her father disappears in a plane crash after her parents divorce. Then she and her brother run because everyone she trusts thinks that it's all a scam, even her mother. I wonder if it is all a scam or if he really disappears after the plane crash.............

Do we have this book in the library ??

Book Review

Article posted March 27, 2012 at 01:06 AM GMT • comment • Reads 135

A book that I just finished reading is Stranded by Ben Mikaelsen. When Koby loses her foot in a bad accident, her mother becomes very protective.  Koby stays out late one night on her dinghy and she finds a weak mother whale tangled in a shrimp net. When she is set free she has a baby calf. Koby keeps visiting the whales and one day she finds them stranded on the sand flats. She stays with them all night until help comes. When her classmates learn what she has done, they begin to admire her.  A veterinarian comes to help with the whales and Koby makes a new friend as she and the vet work together to make the whales strong enough to be set back into the ocean. On top of everything Koby also has to deal with her parents constantly fighting. Will they divorce?

I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it to anyone who is in the mood for a good book. I found it very interesting and intriguing.

I feel......

Article posted February 23, 2012 at 05:16 AM GMT • comment • Reads 148

I feel bad for Betti because she really wants to go home. She is having a very hard time convincing George that the circus camp is better then America.

I feel bad for George because if I was in his postion I would feel torn between what  Betti says and the loving mother that adotped me.

I think it was sad that the lady how is supposed to help kids from different countries doesn't even know how to speak Betti's langauge, it would make it a lot easier on Betti and on the lady.

2 Books

Article posted February 9, 2012 at 03:37 AM GMT • comment (1) • Reads 154

The non-fiction book I would read is Pharaohs and Foot Soldiers . I would like to read it because I find ancient  Egypt very interesting. The summary also says that it is written in a fun way !!!!

The fiction book I would like to read is Timothy and the Dragons Gate. I would like to read it because it involves transformation (the mail room clerk is a dragon) which I really enjoy. In the book the mail room clerk (dragon)  gets into the "wrong hands" so Timothy has to try and help him.

The Girl in the Backseat

Article posted February 3, 2012 at 12:47 AM GMT • comment • Reads 126

The book I recommend to read is The Girl in the Backseat by Norma Charles. I just finished reading it. This book is about a girl Toby who sneaks into the backseat of a car. She is running away from her family because her father is going to make her marry this man that is said to be very creepy...... I enjoyed the part when Jacob and his sister find her in the backseat and agree to help her get to Winnipeg where her aunt lives. They have to also help her survive by giving her food and water.

I really enjoyed this book and recommend it.

I think Betti is  fun and creative. I think she also likes to stick to her own ways and a bit stubborn......  When her (new) mom gives her pj's , she takes them right off after she leaves the room (the mom) and puts her circus dress on. She is also very creative when it comes to telling stories, because when she was still in the circus camp she would tell the other kids stories. Betti will also not lose hope that her parents are coming back for her when they were killed.

Homework 1

Article posted December 8, 2011 at 04:41 AM GMT • comment • Reads 194

The book that I would be interested in reading is Bank Job. I would read it because in the book a group of kids rob a bank to pay for an expensive renovation to be done on their house. I enjoy reading about people who will probably end up getting into a little bit of trouble but hopefully the story ends well.
