Bullying

Article posted March 8, 2012 at 07:26 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 200

Bullying is when a person is bieng picked on for something. It can be verbal or physical. There are different types of bullying like cyber bullying, gossiping, teasing, and physical bullying. People that get bullied should tell adults and make arrangements with counselors. The person can also ignore the bulling as much as possible. If I was to see someone getting I would try to help them.

About the Book

Article posted February 29, 2012 at 07:27 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 65

The book that I am reading is "The Vile Village", by Lemony Snicket. It is the seventh book in the series. I think that it is a very good book. All the books in the series are very good books. This book is like the book I read called "Don't jJdge a Girl by Her Cover". They are both realistic and in the two books there is a child running away from someone. In The Vile Village the children are running away from Count Olaf. I love the conflict in Snicket's books. The Baudelaires are really smart children, and they can get themselves out of sticky situations very easily. In the book the children lost their parents in a fire whom are very important to them. I've also lost people who are very important to me. This was a very good book and you could check it out in our school library!

Pick One

Article posted February 1, 2012 at 03:58 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 64

"Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into friend." Martin Luther King, Jr.

I think it means that if you show your enemy love, it is the only thing that can change them into being your friend. It could be used in my life by me showing love to the people who are being mean and bullies to me. They probably need some love anyway. This quote could definately change someone's attitude, because this could be inspirational to some one, and the relationship between that person and the enemy can be changed. This quote could be inspirational all over the world, which could cause people to change. And the world could possibly become peaceful and there would be no hatred, if people understand what the quote says.

In search of a challenge

New Year’s Reality Check

Another year, another chance
To start our lives anew;
This time we’ll leap old barriers
To have a real breakthrough.

We’ll take one little step
And then we’ll take one more,
Our unlimited potential
We’ll totally explore.

We’ll show off all our talents
Everyone will be inspired;
(Whew! While I’m writing this,
I’m getting very tired.)

We’ll give up all bad habits;

We’ll read and learn a lot,
All our goals will be accomplished,
Sigh...or maybe not.

Oh well, Happy New Year anyway!

By Joanna Fuchs

Text Connections:

Text to text: The poems is like another poem I read about the New Year and New Year's revolutions.
Text to self: This poem pertains to me because every New Year I try to start everything over and not think about the past, just the present.
Tet to world: This poem is telling the world to move on. Start everything new and fresh. That year is over it is time to start something new.

Words with Power to Change the World

Some of the tools that poets use when creating effect in their writing are similes, metaphors, rhyme scheme, onamoapeia, irony, idioms, and many more. Their tone also does that. The tools make the poems good and fun to read!

What About the Characters?

Article posted December 8, 2011 at 12:03 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 204

I would have to say "Edgar and Ellen: The Tourist Trap" was my favorite. There was one character in the book that I didn't care for and that was Heimertz. He was the twins' caretaker. I didn't like him, because he was always there and he never talked to them not once in their whole entire lives, and he is a very creepy man. If he could at least smile or at least talk to the kids and be the kind of caretaker any kid would love to have, then I wouldn't feel that way about him.
I do think that there are characters that represent real people, especially the mayor. I think that the author was a very mischevious child or has mischevious children, because the twins are always causing trouble. It's like it is their mission or their goal to mess-up something and they love doing it.

Looking for a Better Grade?

I didn't realize that the test was on that paper you gave us with Agatha Christie and the other authors. I did very well on my vocabulary section on the test because I actually studied for it. If I could retake the quiz I would definately make sure I know everything that was on the page with the mysteries and the authors. I would make sure I knew exactly what was going to be on the test and that I knew everything that was going to be on the test. This new plan would work so much better because I would actually be able to get an A. I would be able to know what was going to be on the test, because I really didn't remember the information that was on that page.
I think this is a very workable plan because you can't take a test and you do not know what is going to be on it. You have to know what test you are taking, know the information that you are taking the test on, and know exactly what is going to be on the test.
