Helium
Hi, today I’m going to talk about Helium. Helium symbol is “He”. Helium’s melting point is -272.05°C -458°F and its boiling point is -268.785°C-451.813°F. Helium is very important to humans, Earth, and many other things. At the end of my report you’ll know the importance of Helium. You’ll also know facts about Helium. Such as, Helium is a very small amount in the air around us, there is much more Helium in the air in Texas, Kansas, Wyoming, and Oklahoma. You’ll know many more things if you continue reading my report.
I’m going to write about Helium’s discoverer. Sir William Ramsay discovered helium. Sir William Ramsay discovered Helium in 1895. Here are facts about Sir William Ramsay. Sir William Ramsay was born in Glasgow City, UK on October 2nd 1852. Until William was 18 years old he studied in his hometown, after that he received his diploma for doctor philosophy.
Here are some uses for Helium. It is used for balloons, deep sea diving and many other things. Since helium is lighter than air it is filled with balloons and blimps. Helium is lighter than air because of its atomic mass. Helium is also used in MRI machines it is used to cool magnets. Since Hydrogen and Oxygen don’t stay in one place Helium makes them stay in one place, so basically Helium puts Hydrogen and Oxygen in one place. Helium helps deep sea divers have more oxygen while they are under water. They mix helium and oxygen and it makes the air last longer.
The place Helium was first discovered was during a solar eclipse. Scientists wanted to know what was in the sunrays. One day during a solar eclipse a man named Pierre Jules Cesar Janssen sat outside in Guntur, India. While the eclipse happened he noticed that the yellow sunrays from the sun weren’t sodium. The sunrays didn’t match up with any of the known elements. They kept studying and studying until Joseph Norman Lockyer discovered what it was, it was Helium. Both men were credited but the people from the French Academy of Sciences. Until Sir William Ramsay proved it was helium.
That was my report on Helium. I hope you learned a lot about Helium. There are many more facts about Helium but I only named a few facts about Helium. Search up Helium one day, it’ll be very interesting and you’ll learn even more facts about helium!
Europium
Hi, I’m going to write about Europium. Europium is a remarkable element, I’ll tell you why. Europium has a black, silver color. Its symbol is “Eu” It is a soft metal. Europium is what makes the color in TV’s! That’s amazing, right? If scientists hadn’t invented Europium television would still be in black and white! Europium cannot be found in nature. Europium was made in a science laboratory. This means it was man-made. It is only use is color in televisions. If you keep reading my report you’ll find out when it was discovered, basic information, and many other interesting things about Europium.
Here are some basic facts about Europium. Europium’s atomic mass is 151.964 amu. Europium's melting point is 822.0°C or 1511.6°F. It's boiling point is 1597.0°C or 2906.6°F. Europium's density is 5.259g/cm3. Europium’s freezing point is 822.0°C or 1511.6°F. Europium's classification is rare Earth. Europium is right in the middle of hard and soft. Europium has 63 Protons and Electrons, and 89 Neutrons. Those are some basic facts about Europium.
Where Europium was discovered, and when Europium was discovered. Eugene Demarcay was the discoverer of Europium. Europium was discovered in Europe in 1901. If you notice Europe and Europium sound alike, this is because Europium was named after Europe. Eugene Demarcay was born in Paris, France on January 1, 1852. Demarcay made his own private laboratory in Paris. Demarcay death date is not officially known. One person has one answer, and another person has another answer.
Europium Uses. As I mentioned before Europium is used for colored televisions. Without Europium television would still be in black and white. This is very interesting because all these elements that are in the color television make it happen; however Europium is not the only element that makes televisions. There are many more elements that help make TV’s.
That was my report about Europium. It’s amazing what one element can do in this big world! Everything makes a difference in this world, especially Europium. I hope you enjoyed my report on Europium. I also hope you learned about Europium.
Sulfur
Hi, I’m going to write about Sulfur. Sulfur is a very attention-grabbing element. Sulfur’s symbol is “S”. Sulfur has a golden or yellow color. Did you know that Sulfur is in your hair? Did you also know that Sulfur is in Epsom salts? It is also what skunks spray! Sulfur smells very bad; however when it is in our hair it has no odor. It is also in eggs, garlic, onions, hot springs, volcanoes, etc.
Here are some basic facts about Sulfur. Sulfur’s atomic number is 16. Sulfur’s symbol is “S”. Sulfur’s atomic weight is 32.065. Sulfur’s melting point is 115.21° C or 239.38°F and Sulfur’s boiling point is 444.60°C or 832.28°F; however Sulfur’s freezing point is its melting point. In this case that would be 115.21°C or 239.38°F. Sulfur’s element classification in non-metal, which means it’s not classified as a metal. Sulfur’s density is 2.067 grams per cubic centimeter.
How Sulfur was discovered. Sulfur was discovered before written records. Sulfur is mentioned in the bible. In biblical form Sulfur is “brimstone”. It was might’ve been discovered because of its color. “Sufra” in Arabic is Sulfur which means yellow. The element, Sulfur was discovered before ancient Egypt. Sulfur was mentioned for being used in ancient Greece, China, and Egypt.
Here is where you can find Sulfur. Sulfur is mostly everywhere! If you have dandruff and use a dandruff shampoo, most of those shampoos contain Sulfur. Sulfur is also used to make sulfuric acid. Sulfur is also used for an electrical insulator. This means that it stops the electric current.
That was my report on Sulfur. As you learned Sulfur is a very interesting element. It opens your eyes and you see that you can find it in your own body! It is even in things you eat. I found Sulfur a very interesting element because it was in my hair, eggs, and even volcanoes.

Hi, today I’m going to talk about Elizabeth Cady Stanton. Did you know Elizabeth was part of the Woman’s Movement? She was the president of the National American Woman Suffrage Association for twenty years. If you keep reading my blog you’ll know much more about Mrs. Stanton.
I would like to meet Mrs. Stanton because she was important in history. If I could meet her I would ask her why she did what she did. I would also ask her what interested her in the Woman’s Movement. How she did this. Also who helped her plan it, who supported her the most and when she realized it was important for women to have the right to vote.
Elizabeth Stanton was an important part of America you’ll find out why. Elizabeth Stanton and Lucretia Mott started the Women’s Right Movement. The Woman’s Right Movement was to give women the right to vote. This was important because women felt left out because they couldn’t vote to choose their president. During the Civil War Elizabeth Stanton concentrated on getting rid of slavery, but after that she focused more on women’s right to vote.
In the year of 1868 Elizabeth ran for Congress. She was hoping to win but things didn’t go so well. Since men were only allowed to vote she lost. She was very disappointed. Women did not think this was right. They thought they had the right to vote. Women still couldn’t vote until the 19th Amendment to the Constitution was passed in 1920.
That was my blog! I hope you enjoyed it! I also hope you learned about Elizabeth Cady Stanton. Elizabeth was a very important person in history and made America a better place. Thank you for reading my blog.

Chapter 1
Uncle Dock came back from his walk alone. We asked where Rosalie was and he said “Gone. She’s gone.” We were all terribly confused. We asked why and he said “She has important plans in Spain and she cannot miss them”. “Did you propose?!” Sophie asked. “Yes I did, but it was useless. She said it was too soon”. “You’ve been waiting for her your whole life!” Brian Exclaimed. “I know”. Uncle Dock said. “Well what are you waiting for? Go, go after her”. Sophie said. I really wanted to come but Uncle Dock wanted to go on his own. I know I can convince Uncle Dock to let me go with him. From then on Uncle Dock’s mission began.
Chapter 2
I pleaded, I begged, I did everything I could to go with Uncle Dock to go to the airport. Finally I succeeded! We are on our way to the airport. I’m really excited. I’m asking Uncle Dock what he thinks of going to the airport, but there is still no answer.
Chapter 3
We arrived at the airport; Uncle Dock and I are running, running as fast as we can to look for Rosalie. The flight attendant tells us that the plane has already left. I saw Uncle Dock’s face drop, his mouth wide open and his eyes as big as boulders. He sat down crying. The flight attendant asked to talk to me in private. She said she needed to tell me some really bad news. The plane had crashed and nobody had survived. I had to tell Uncle Dock.
Chapter 4
“Uncle Dock have a seat. I need to tell you some really bad news.” I said. “What she’s dead!? I’m probably never going to see her ever again!” replied Uncle Dock. “Yes, I’m sorry to break to you Uncle Dock but she is dead.” I said to Uncle Dock. “What?! What?! Your trying to tell me that she left to Spain and she is dead?! This is impossible, what happened?” Uncle Dock exclaimed. “I’m so sorry. The plane crashed and I don’t know what happened from there.” I answered. Uncle Dock stayed in silence.
Chapter 5
As we were leaving the airport Uncle Dock ran into a woman. “I’m so sorry!” They both said. They laughed. I knew there was something going on between Uncle Dock and the woman. I left them alone for a while and went to go get a snack. When I got back Uncle Dock had asked her to dinner. I was flabbergasted by this! I’m glad he met another woman. I was glad because if he wouldn’t have he would be crying over Rosalie. Later that night Uncle Dock came home with a big smile on his face. We were all happy from Uncle Dock!

Do you know how dogs and racers are protected during the Iditarod race? Read my blog and you'll find out. I hope you enjoy it and learn about the Iditarod race.
I’m going to write about how much food the dogs must have during the race. Did you know that they give each dog 2 pounds of food? They carry 32 pounds of food in each sled. At the half way checkpoint the mushers feed their dogs. The mushers have to wait 10 hours after they feed the dogs until the mushers can continue the race.
The Iditarod makes sure the people are safe when they reach the checkpoints. Also, they make sure the dogs are safe. They also make sure they have enough food and supplies. Did you know That racers have to stay with their dogs at all times? There is a guest cabin at the half way point but only visitors can enter the cabin.
I am going to tell you how the racers must check the dog’s paws. At the checkpoints, the racers check the dog’s paws to see if they are injured. If the dogs have scratches on their paws the mushers must put booties on their dog’s paws. These booties help the dog’s paws and make the journey much easier for the dogs to run.
That is all I have to say about the Jr. Iditarod race. I wrote about the racers, dogs, checkpoints, and the dog’s paws. I hope you learned a lot from my essay!!

Dear Mom,
Today I’m going to try to persuade you to buy me a laptop. I’ll give you a few good reasons to buy one. I hope I persuade you to buy me that laptop.
You know I use the computer a lot. Right? So this computer would help me complete many tasks. Such as homework, assignments, research, and stuff for projects. It would also let you use the computer more. Instead of me using your computer all the time when you need it.
As you know I want a Sony laptop. I know they’re expensive but they are worth it. Sony is a really good brand. The computer wouldn’t mess up very often. So that means you wouldn’t always have to be repairing it and fixing it with your money. It would last me a good amount of time.
Mom also mostly EVERYONE has a laptop. I don’t want to be the only one without one. I also wouldn’t want to be missing out on not having a laptop. This laptop can include many benefits for me. So please buy me a laptop!
My friend says that Sony has worked out really good for her. She says, “It has lasted me a good amount of time. I would recommend it to anyone”. I have proof that it is a good brand. Even my brother’s laptop has turned out very good for him. It lasts you a long time if you take care of it.
So that’s all I have to say! I hope I have persuaded you into buying me a laptop. You have to admit I did give you some pretty good reasons to but me a laptop. Thank you for your time!
Your Daughter,
Dhalia

The Mostly True Adventures of Homer P. Figg

The Adventures of Homer P. Figg.
Today I’m going to write about why Homer P. Figg left his safe home to rescue his brother Harold, who is in the war. Homer loves his brother very much, that’s why he is out to save him. Keep reading my blog and you’ll find out why Homer leaves his safe home.
It all starts when Harold eats a piece of stale bread, which is supposed to be fed to the hogs. Squinton Leach is about to punch him in the face when Harold comes and stops him. When Harold stops Squinton from punching his brother, Squinton falls over and falls in the mud. After that, Harold and Homer go and hide, while Squinton calls up some friends of his to find them. When they catch them, the county magistrate, Mr. J. T. Marston wants to send Harold to the war. Mr. Leach says Harold is 20 years old when he is really 17 years old. He was sent to the army because he takes the oath for being a soldier. It was either he said the oath or he gets shot. That’s how it all started.
Homer wants to save Harold from being in the war because Harold has always been there and helped Homer. Now Homer wants to rescue Harold from being in the war. Harold would always tell Homer that everything would be fine because Harold was about to turn 18 and he said they would escape from Squinton Leach’s farm in Pine Swamp. Harold would always have Homer in his arms when he would fall asleep. Harold would never lie, he would always tell the truth. So I think he want’s to save him because he wants to care for Harold as Harold always cared for him.
Why? Why would Harold leave his safe home at the home of Jebediah Brewster? I think he knows Harold doesn’t deserve to be in the army or in the war. Also because he was sold illegally by Mr. Leach. Even if he was sold legally I still think Homer would still go through all those challenges just to get to Harold. I believe why Homer overcomes all these adventures is because he doesn’t want to see his brother dead. He didn’t want to experience what he already experienced with his mother dying. I also believe that Homer left because he wanted to be a great brother just like Harold made risks for Homer.
So now you know why Homer tried to save his brother Harold. I think Homer Figg was a great brother for trying to rescue Harold. And also because he overcame many difficulties and he was only 12 years old! The most important part is that Homer cared about his brother.

Aboard The Mayflower

Dear Aunt Mary,
How are you, I hope you are doing fine. I really miss you and I really hope this letter gets to you and Uncle Lester. I really wish we can meet up again or you can come and visit or we’ll go and visit you in Plymouth, England. I anticipate that you can write back to me as soon as possible because my mom and dad really want to keep in touch.
Today I boarded the Mayflower. It isn’t that bad but I have a slight cough. Mom tries to cook us some beans but she can’t because the ship rocks back and forth all day and the food spills everywhere! It’s really hard to eat dry biscuits with rotten cheese everyday. The food is really unpleasant to eat. There are mice everywhere. And I have to eat the food that mice and cockroaches have already nibbled and stepped on, it’s really gross but there’s nothing else to eat. My brothers have typhoid fever because of the rats and cockroaches on the food. They have a fever and are light headed.
All day I long to run on land, play with friends, and play the flute my father bought me for my birthday. All I do is sit in a crowded area with 100’s of people. Try to get some fresh air once in a while, and talk to my mother about this journey we’ve taken from Plymouth, England to an unknown land. I get bored and tired of being in the ship, I get sea sick, but I think how wonderful it would be to have our own land and follow our own religions. Also how it would be to play with my brothers and race a round the new land.
Something really terrible happened yesterday. I’ll tell you the dreadful story. It was a wonderful day. No storms, no dark clouds, nothing was going wrong. The sun was shining as bright as can be, and the ship wasn’t damp and cold, as it always was. My mother cooked us some beans and my father was on deck. My father was watching the sparkling vast sea. When one of the sailors pushed my father overboard! My mother, my brother, and I heard one of the sailors yell, “Somebody went overboard!” My mother, brother, and I rushed on deck, looked into the ocean, and it was my father! My whole family kneeled and started praying and crying, for my father. I wished I had spent more time with my father.
Suddenly my father came up miraculously! He had caught on to a loose rope on the ship! He climbed up and we all started hugging him and giving him kisses on the cheek. My father had told us what happened. “I was just looking at the radiant ocean. When suddenly a sailor was rushing for something and he pushed me overboard! The fall was very breathtaking! I swam through the ocean and when I had come up to look for something to grab, I saw a rope. Just when I grabbed the rope a massive wave made me go under the ocean. When I thought the wave was gone, I went up and grabbed the rope once again. I knew I had the rope very firmly gripped I was climbing the rope and then a sailor grabbed my hand and pulled me up! Then I knew God didn’t want me with him yet.” Those are the exact words he said.
Turns out the reason the sailor pushed my father overboard was because the captain was choking on a piece of squid he ate. The squid wasn’t completely dead and it's suction cups were still alive too. So the suction cups grabbed on to the captain's throat when he swallowed it. And the one of the sailors was going to get help for the captain.
The captain turned out good. The good part was that he didn’t completely swallow the squid, so one of the sailors saw one of the squid’s tentacles by his uvula. The sailor grabbed the tentacle and pulled it out of the captain's throat. So the captain thanked the sailor and we continue on our journey!
I really enjoy writing to you, Aunt Mary. I hope we can continue. Tell me how Plymouth, England is. How is the family? Message me as soon as you can! I really miss you!
Sincerely,
Dhalia

Dhalia--Ben Franklin’s Big Ideas

Do you know Ben Franklin’s big ideas? Well if you don’t I’ll tell you about a few. Benjamin would have the most spontaneous ideas and you are going to find out about them. You are going to enjoy this essay.
In 1733 Benjamin Franklin published the first Almanac. It was called “Poor Richard’s Almanack”. Benjamin would write jokes and sayings such as… “A penny saved is a penny earned”. People bought Almanacs to find out holidays, weather forecasts, when there would be a full moon, etc. Benjamin loved his “Almanack” he loved books filled with odd pieces of information. Benjamin was selling about 10,000 copies each year. He sold his Almanacs for 25 years so he would have approximately sold 25,000 copies in total.
You probably know that Benjamin Franklin discovered that lightning and electricity are the same. Everyone thought that his theory was crazy and that Ben was crazy. He used a kite and a key to test his theory. He sent his experiment to scientists in Europe. The scientists would be in the testing rooms and they would see the sparks flying in the air and the tricks that could be performed with electricity. When the scientists proved that his theory was correct. Benjamin felt suddenly famous he felt he was the most celebrated man in America!
In 1752 Ben Franklin was made a Post Master General. He organized a system so that it took only 3 weeks instead of 6 weeks for a letter to go from Boston to Philadelphia. Later he shortened the time span to 6 days instead of 3 weeks. Benjamin was great at being the Post Master General because he would organize everything that would be received at the post office and letters or packages that would be sent. He would discover new ways to send letters from place to place. It seemed as if anything needed to be done Benjamin would do it!
In 1757 Ben was sent to London. In London Benjamin began to live in style and comfort. He bought shoes, a watch, knee buckles, candlesticks, and more! Ben received a regular supply of American cornmeal, venison, cranberries, and bacon from his wife, Debbie. His wife would send him presents from America. Benjamin lived 2 years in America but Benjamin lived 18 years in London! From the age of 51 to the age of 69 he lived in London. Debbie died a year before Benjamin returned back home to America. Debbie was to afraid to cross the ocean so she stayed in America.
If you didn’t know Benjamin was a very good negotiator. He convinced France to help us fight in the Revolutionary War, between the United States and England. He went to France to convince the French to fight in the Revolutionary War between the United States and England. The French agreed. They would send the United States soldiers, weapons, and much more. Peace came in 1783, Benjamin Franklin helped write the peace treaty.
These were some of Ben’s big ideas. We got great benefits from Benjamin. But there are many more stupendous ideas he had! Ben Franklin made a big difference in the world. He always had great ideas and always had great effort in each and every idea he had. I hoped you enjoyed my essay!
