A Longer Allergy Season!!!

Article posted April 11, 2012 at 01:44 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 245

Ever thought about why there are more patients at the Doctor's office this year than any other year?

Well apparently, or should say sadly, we might have longer "Spring Seasons" due to the Global temperatures rising. And because of that, many people are getting sick with colds, flus, viruses, and etc.

For more information, read the following article:         http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/04/02/really-a-longer-allergy-season-as-climate-warms/

Global Warming

Article posted April 11, 2012 at 01:36 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 260

Global warming is pretty simple to me; WE CAUSE IT. With temperatures rising and water levels also, what other excuse do we have? Here are 4 main causes of global warming. The first is carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuel burning power plants. With 40% of US CO2 emissions coming from electricity production, this is a main reason. The next reason comes from carbon dioxide emissions from burning gasoline for transportation. Though many cars don't produce this anymore, there are still some clunkers that still produce this harmful gas. The next reason/example is increase in usage of chemical fertilizers on croplands. Instead of the historical use of animal manure, we have started to use chemical fertilizers. These fertilizers contain nitrogen oxides, which has 300 more times the heat-trapping capacity per unit than carbon dioxide. The next example is deforestation, especially tropical forests for wood, pulp, and farmland. Trees take in carbon dioxide, and with less of them, carbon dioxide levels go up, which is another factor to global warming. I will also list some effects of global warming. The first is rise in sea levels world-wide. This can cause major flooding in coastal regions of many countries. The next effect is more major sever storms. They have increased since 1981 and can also devastate coastal regions. The next major reason is massive crop failures. This can effect farmers worldwide. The last effect is the widespread extinction of species. Global warming can extinct any kind of species, especially polar bears.

NEPTUNE

Facts about Neptune:

ü file:///C:/Users/Janu/AppData/Local/Temp/msohtmlclip1/01/clip_image002.jpg" align="left" hspace="12" alt="Description: http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRNQbGiQAXH1jdWrASOaZlDvlNW5pGt5SkkX93xwtpZ0Z1CShs-LQ" v:shapes="Picture_x0020_1" />Is the eighth and farthest planet from the Sun in the Solar System

ü Named after the Roman God of Sea

ü It is the fourth largest planet by diameter and third largest by mass

ü On an average, Neptune orbits the Sun and a distance of 30.1 AU

ü Discovered on September 23, 1846

ü Neptune is a gas giant however, it is primarily composed of hydrogen and helium

ü The interior of Neptune is composed of ice and rocks

ü Neptune’s atmosphere is notable for its active and visible weather patterns

vNeptune’s mass is 17 times that of the Earth but it is only 1/19th that of Jupiter’s (OMG!)

ü Neptune is approximately 4.5 km away from the Earth

Neptune was discovered as the result of observed irregularities in the motion of Uranus and the first planet to be discovered on the basis of theoretical calculations.

By: J. C. Adams, U. J. Leverrier, and J. C. Galle in 1846

Why is Neptune worth it?

Neptune is my favorite planet in the Solar System, besides the Earth, because it is BLUE! It is worth exploring because there is a lot to learn from reading about it. It has some unique characteristics compared to the other four gas giants and it is also similar to those planets as well.

Just so me......

Article posted October 24, 2011 at 11:24 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 780

Hi! I am Janani. Math and Science are my two favorite subjects in school. I play the violin, piano, and I take Indian classical dance lessons. My favorite color is blue. I like to read mysteries and multi-cultural book, watch tv, and I like to do "stuff" on the computer for fun. I also enjoy writing in my free times! I have a 7 year old sister who is very funny and I am also very close to my family. I love to listen to music, anytime &  anywhere, it helps me concentrate and comforts me. In addition to that, I love to dance. I have performed in many programs and I love what I do. I am a very hard working student, but sometimes I am lazy (I'll never feel like getting out of bed), and I always expect the best out of what I do. Thanks for reading! Looking forward to more comments and reads! Yay meeeee!!!!

Enjoy my blog
