Daniya's Scientific Discoveries! :D

Welcome to Mr. Ullrich's Blog! This blog is for 8th Grade Earth Science and Physical Science students. We will learn topics such as Astronomy, Geology and Meteorology. This blog will give us a place to discuss, learn and develop these topics during the year. If you are not from our class please post lots of comments!

Is global warming out fault?

Are humans responsible for global warming?

That seems to be the big question, and there are many debates in which some believe that humans are responsible for global warming, while some believe that they have no effect.

Well….a hard question there…

I believe that human activities is a main source of global warming. Ever since the industrial age started, with raving cars and factories, the climate’s temeperature has suddenly increased. The giving off of greenhouses gases, such as carbon dioxide has increased the amount of Every time you drive a car, carbon-rich auto exhaust enters the atmosphere. The use of jet fuel in plane travel also adds a great deal to your carbon dioxide. I believe that the number one cause of global warming is the burning of fossil fuels, which is one thing that humans are doing at this moment. Let’s use solar, wind and etc to fuel energy!!

Space Exploration: The Boomerang Nebula!

Article posted December 6, 2011 at 12:04 AM GMT0 • comment (2) • Reads 714

Hey everyone! So today I would like to talk to you bloggers out there about…wait for it…..THE BOOMERANG NEBULA!! A nebula in general is a nursery for stars when they are first born. The Boomerang Nebula is located about 5,000 light-years from Earth, in the direction of a southern constellation Centaurus. Over the last 1,500 years, nearly one and a half times of the mass of our Sun has been lost by the central star of the Boomerang Nebula (greedy little star in the middle there…)! This ejection process is called bipolar outflow.

The Boomerang Nebula is one of the coldest places in the universe! Radio measurements made in 1995 show the deep interior of the nebula to have a temperature of only one degree Kelvin above absolute zero. This makes the inner regions of the Boomerang Nebula one of the coldest known places in the universe. Also, the Boomerang Nebula got its name from its shape, which is a boomerang of course!

But how was this celestial object found? A telescope known as the Hubble Telescope had “caught” the Boomerang Nebula, with images taken with the Advanced Camera. Here are some really cool pictures of this nebula!

(To read more about this nebula, and others as well, go to this link!)

Hey everyone! What's up? My name is Daniya, and I am in Mr. Ullrich's Earth Science class. Let me tell you,I'm not the biggest fan of science, more like a math freak, but not to worry! So far, Earth Science has been going well, and I hope it stays that way!  Out of all things I do in my life, I love to hang out with my family and friends, and listen to music. My favorite artists/bands include Maroon 5, Eminem, Adele, and many more! My favorite sports include badminton, basketball, and volleyball. I look forward to using these blogs, and thanks for taking the time to check out my blog! Bye!

About the Blogger
Hey! My name is Daniya, and this year I'm taking the course Earth Science. I've always been fond of science, well not really D: However, so far Earth Science has been really interesting, and I finally understand why certain things happen, if that makes sense :) My favorite subject is math (yes, really), I love to read, and I love to play basketball, badminton, and volleyball. I love to listen to music, which helps me get through the day! I am looking forward to working with these blogs, and thanks for taking the time to read this! :)
