PLUTO IS MAGNIFICENT! ~PLUTO~

Originally thought of as a main planet, Pluto is now classified as a dwarf planet. This discovery was made in 2006 and we see that this planet has moved into the Kuiper Belt. This is a “shadowy disk-like zone beyond the orbit of Neptune that holds a trillion or more comets.” It now holds Pluto, which is the biggest object there. President Abraham Lincoln grew his beard because an eleven-year-old girl suggested it. Just like that, another eleven-year-old girl by the name of Venetia Burney of Oxford, England told her grandfather to name the planet after the Roman god of the underworld. Her grandfather proceeded to mention this to the Lowell observatory. It worked out because the name was also referred to Percival Lowell whose initials are the first two letters of Pluto. So since Pluto is so far away, we never really got many details about it. But we could point out obvious things as well. Being so far away from the sun, we can conclude that it has a highly eccentric orbit and is FREEZING COLD!!! (Minus 375 degrees Fahrenheit) We think that Pluto has a “rocky core surrounded by a mantle of water ice.” Coating its surface could be methane and nitrogen gases. Pluto proves to be a very interesting planet but sadly, one we can’t discover very much about. Hopefully new information will turn up so we can discover more!
