Title: Make lunch a GO TIME! (05/14/12)
Description: Childhood obesity is a major concern for our nation. We have been learning what foods are better for us than others and ways to make sure that we have the nutrients that we need to grow strong.

Is there anything available in our school that you would like to see eliminated because it isn’t healthy? Is there anything that would like to see available to us in our school that you don’t see now? If you could make one day of the week “Our Healthy Day”, what would the menu look like? Name 3-5 items that you think the students in our school would enjoy and would also keep us healthy.

Make sure that you triple-check your blog and your comments for proper capitalization, grammar, punctuation and spelling!

Ok I have to eliminate concentrated juice (it’s so gross to.) There is one thing they need to add, fresh fruit. I have seen the basket of fruit and I think it’s from September. I had an orange which Shivani ate, she said and I quote,”Gross!” Our healthy day should have
1)Non-concentrated juice
2)Bigger portion of salad
3)Less fried food
4)Fresher fruit
Stay healthy!

Daniel -- HEALTHY EATING

I think that the cafeteria should stop serving tater tots, hot dogs and juice. They should have a salad as a meal. On "Healthy Day", the cafeteria should serve soup in the winter and salad and fruit salad in warm weather. A fruit bowl would taste great- especially watermelon. I also think that it would be great if they served fresh lemonade made with real lemons, sugar and ice. Something different would be whole wheat crackers and cheese. Maybe the cafeteria could feature a special vegetable of the week on Fridays and give us all a free sample.

The food that I would like to eliminate is a cheeseburger. This is because a cheeseburger is packed with oil.Eating too much of it is not a good thing. The food that I want to see available is a fruit salad. It can help your body and it can also taste good.If I could make one day a "Healthy Day"it will be foods that will keep us healthy. For example, low fat or non fat milk,a little cup of fruit salad, brown rice, and also cheese for the bones to keep strong.Remember to keep lunch a GO time.

I think the cafatriea should eliminate the chacoelate chip cookies because they have a lot of sugar. I think they should add yogurt because its more heathier than cookies.

Well I think there a lot of bad food in our school like pancakes I like eating them but there really bad for you and many other stuff. If I made a menu it would be taco day (meat, lettuce, tomatoes) looks very healthy and it very good anther thing I would add is the pop corn chicken it looks healthy because there know types of oil on it well I think there is but I'm guessing there not. Anther thing I would add is this type of chicken it looks healthy because it meat and meat has protein which helps make you stronger. And the last thing would add is cereal because it good for you and a lot of people I think 56% I think people in north america eat cereal. But I think ever one enjoins THE TACOs.

Childhood Obesity is and has been a major concern for our nation. I would like to eleminate Taco Day . "oh no,but I love it "  I know some of us love Taco Day,but.....its for our best. I would love to add a day called Salad Day. Three more things i'd love to add to make one week  "Healthy Week", would be Fruit Salad Day: Whole Wheat bread day and could put anything in it.(no butter oily things that fatty in it.) Another is Green Veggie day.Thats all. I hope every one is and was studying for the health test.

Jonny -- The child obesity! don't give me saturated fat!!!

I'd like to elimnate the sugar and especially chocolate chip cookies.  I know everyone desires it like me, but it probably has at the least, 45 grams of sugar, sodium, and a lot of corn syrup(maybe).  the chips are a DIFFERENT STORY because instead of keeping it at room temperature, we should heat them and that way we can make them healthier by heating them.  Maybe we should add a variety of hot lunches so that if you don't want one hot lunch but don't want cold lunch, either, you can at least have another hot lunch that differs from th other one that you disliked.

If I could choose one day of the week for our healthy day it would be Friday and the lunch would be chicken with vegetables, fruit and bread. 3 names of items that I think students would like is carrots with dip, burnt broccoli and a fruit cup.
