Title: Never “Too Tired” To Recycle! (03/26/12)
Description: Our class was so lucky to have Mrs. Dewalters here showing us how to recycle old bicycle tires into belts and leashes! We had such a great time! Thank you again, Mrs. Dewalters! We now know that too many tires end up in landfills taking up space, and we were to actually make a difference. What was your favorite part of the day?

Not only was making those belts fun, it wasn’t that difficult as we created them step by step. The most challenging thing was coming up with the idea to do it.

Think about the things that we use and throw away in our lives. Can you think of something that we would somehow be able to reuse in a different way? Maybe it could be clothing, or a tool, or a decoration… but I want you to really think about it. Do you have any ideas?

Make sure that you triple-check your blog and your comments for proper capitalization, grammar, punctuation and spelling!

Here is a list of things that we use and throw away everyday: A water and/or glass bottle. A soda can. (A tire). A card board box. A paper bag. All of these things can be used by many people and thrown out but now I have away that I could reuse these objects. I would like to make a fake robot out of the things listed above. I would put the paper bag on the bottom and draw feet. Then I would use the soda can as the body the tire as a neck and the bottle as the head. That's my robot!

It would be cool to use old basketballs to make swings. I have a swing made out of a tire. It looks like a horse. The basketball swings could be a piece of the basketball hung between two ropes. You could also use more of the basketball to make a baby swing.

Dear Readers,

Last Friday we had a day were one of our classmate's mom came over so we can make tire belts! My favorite part of that day was when we had to pick the tire belts! They were black and white and had really cool patters on them. I wanted to choose black because my opinion is that I black goes with everything! If there was a project my class and I would get to do is maybe recycle cans so we can make holders of some sort like for pens, pencils, sharpeners, and so on and on. I would also want to make maybe a pillow with some old cloths, (of course washed) some cotton balls, a needle and old string. And we can sew some buttons on them! That would be fun! Thank you for reading my blogs and continue on with the great comments!

You can make a lot out of old things like a belt, a bracelet and even a hat.If I had to choose to make something out of recyclable things than I would choose to make shoes out of water bottles or a glove out of a plastic bag there are so many things to make. What would you make?

My idea is that we can use old gift bags and reuse them! Duh, even if it has a tag have you ever heard thought of this? Rip it off!! Or if you don’t have the strength to do it white it out! But if you rip it off you have to buy a new piece of paper so never mind about the first idea but then if you don’t have white out you can rip it off!

My favorite part of the day was putting the buckle on the belt with the screws together to make it tight. We would be able to reuse water bottles and cut it into tiny pots for plants then you can decorate them with lots of color.

My favorite part of the day was is we get to wear the tire belts that we reuse. The idea that I came up with is to make a tiny and fake rocket out of water bottles.First, you find a empty water bottle.Next, cover it with paper. Then, tape the paper so it doesn't come off. After that, color the paper that is on the water bottle. Finally, you made your own tiny and fake rocket that is reuse from water bottles and paper.

It was very fun to have Mrs.D come and show us step by step step's of how to create thrown away tires into cool and fab belts. And the most challenging part of all was to think of that idea! if I were to think of more ways to reuse  things we dont use or throw awy on of tham would be

1.old shrits thorn and ripped-into beautiful towels

2.water bottles-nice sounded instuments with different sounds

3.lenses from glasses-small magnifiers

4.(as Mrs.D said)old tires-belts or braclets any accsesories

thats all I have if I think of more i'll try to remember to write it down. Any ideas please tell.
