The Soccer Dress!

On Saturday I was going to a soccer match which started at 9:00. It was my first practice and I was feeling nervous and excited at the same time. I was looking forward to seeing the other people on my team. When it was almost 9:00, I put on my new jersey, my shorts, my socks, and my shoes. I was happy to have a new jersey and eager to see what it looked like on. I observed my jersey and shorts in the mirror. Suddenly, I saw my jersey covering most of my shorts; it was a big problem! I looked like I was wearing a dress.

When my Dad came I told him, “Dad, my jersey is covering most of my shorts, they look like pajamas!” “It’s OK, nobody will notice” my dad replied. He thought that when I was running my shirt would be flying and it would be OK. I disagreed. We tried everything we could do to make it shorter. We folded it, we tucked it in, I raised it up a bit; but nothing worked. Luckily, my nanny found a solution. She put safety pins to raise my shirt. I checked in the mirror another time and was comforted by what I saw. All of this had taken a really long time to sort out.

When Dad and I went into the car I checked my watch. “Oh my God, we’re already late!” I exclaimed. “It’s probably because you’ve been nagging all the time.” he muttered. “Hey!” I replied. I was mad. He didn’t understand how important it was to me and how everyone would have laughed.

When we got to the field I saw my team jogging, so I joined them. I wasn’t so late in the end. I felt kind of relieved.
