The Hill In Powell

Article posted May 21, 2012 at 05:07 PM GMT • comment • Reads 162

The hill in Powell where relatives live.
The hill in Powell where cat-faced spiders thrive.
The hill in Powell where a dear dog was buried.
The hill in Powell where I am beckoned in.

Myra Museum

Article posted May 18, 2012 at 07:01 PM GMT • comment • Reads 70

At the Myra Museum I learned that Grand Forks had a complex past. Lake Agassiz was right on top of Northfield which is why the land is flat and great for farming. Northfield was targeted by Jessie James because he thought there was nobody but farmers, but Northfield had many war veterans and they attacked Jessie James. The first one to build a steamboat and transport goods down the Red River would get an award of $1000 back then. They had the first post office and an old schoolhouse with only one room. All the buildings had cobwebs and dead flies everywhere.

Principal For A Week

Article posted May 11, 2012 at 06:50 PM GMT • comment • Reads 65

If I were principal of my school for a week, I would attempt to create more enrichment programs, develop at least one other system of grading, and make more programs like ELBA. I would see if it was possible to add extra equipment like swing sets.

Water Safety

Article posted May 3, 2012 at 01:37 PM GMT • comment • Reads 47

On May 1st I learned about water safety. I learned about different types of life jackets. My favorite part was the hypothermia example with ice-cold water and objects at the bottom that you had to grab. The Fatal Vision goggles were also very fun because they showed how drunk people are disoriented. I sure wouldn't want those people driving my boat! I enjoyed the boats inside that can be driven so easily! I suspect that bigger ships are harder to navigate. All around the trip was an excellent field trip to do. I would really want to go back there someday.

My Dream

Article posted March 20, 2012 at 06:20 PM GMT • comment • Reads 71

My dream is to invent artificial spider silk. I wonder if the key is within how spiders spin their webs, unless if that was tried twenty times using different methods. It could be used for a bridge across the ocean, toothpaste, bullet proof vests, a cord to stop jumbo jets, and super glue. I would be a arachniologist. The regular silk is made from silkworm cocoons, witch was discovered in China. Spider silk is much stronger, at the same diameter it is stronger than steel and even Kevlar.

Today we learned about eletrical safety. We watched a movie and the eletricity teacher explained the safety things to do in the situations. The main thing I learned was not to touch a vehicle and the ground if there is an eletrical cord on the vehicle. He showed us the way eletricity travels its way to ground.

If I Were President

Article posted February 21, 2012 at 06:42 PM GMT • comment • Reads 58

If I were president I would raise money for the people without education, especially college, because the price of college and many other forms of education is high enough to put people in poverty. I would also reinforce the penalty for poaching and smuggling animals. I would try to make the country at least 70% zero waste by recycling and stopping pollution.

I learned that there was a story about the Titan witch became a fulfilled prophecy, even the fact it sank in the Atlantic Ocean. The Titanic weighed 46,320 tons. The two sisters of the Titanic are the Gigantic and the Olympic.
