Friction

Article posted May 17, 2012 at 03:26 PM GMT • comment (1) • Reads 1202

I learned that theres more friction if you pull the block across fine sandpaper rather than coarse sandpaper. I learned that coarse sandpaper does go up steady with 2 blocks. I learned that there is more friction when theres more wieght in one spot.

We measured by taking a spring scale hooking it up to the block and pulling it 20 cent. Then we measure what the spring scale reads and we do three times and then get the average. This is measuring friction force.

3. We kept the surface Type the same because if we changed two variables we would have not good data.

Elastic force

Article posted April 27, 2012 at 03:19 PM GMT • comment • Reads 957

Elastic force is pulling and pushing and uses force.

From Mr. G - I think you defined force here, not only elastic force. What do you think?

And you still need to answer the two assignment questions (click on the assignment to read what those are).

Batteries have a stored chemical energy in them used to make things turn on like yo tv remote and other things like flashlights etc. It is kind of like a big light of energy and other things like mechanical energy. And light creates heat so it can give you light and heat at the same time. The lightbulb works light and the motor can make the light brighter cause it moves faster then it can have more power.

with the blotter paper in the middle it seperates the metal from touching so if they aren't touching so they wont shock you so if the blotter paper is there you won't get a little shock.

Salmon stages by hunter.

Article posted November 21, 2011 at 04:30 PM GMT • comment (5) • Reads 2556

The life cycle of the wild salmon begins with the female salmon digging out a shallow redd,or nest,in the gravel in the river bottom.

The eggs that are laid in the fall hatch the next spring.the small larval fish, about one inch in length, are called alevin, and still have a yolk sac attached. The threats are horseback riders, fishermen, loggers, livestock, wild animals, or just the casual hiker can all accidentally destroy salmon redds without even realizing it. Gulls, dippers, sculpins, and trout all feed upon salmon eggs and young alevin.

The young salmon fry begin to move in schools and feed in the river.they mainly on zooplankton until they grow large enough to eat aquatic insects and other larger foods.the need is cool, clear, water holds lots of oxygen which the salmon also need.the danger is as the vulnerable fry grow, they will start to develop spots and vertical parr marks on their sides. These markings help camouflage them from predators such as mergansers, and great blue herons. Unlike most fry, pink salmon fry do not develop these parr marks.

By the time the salmon reach the estuaries, they have silver sides, bright bluish green backs, and are called smolt. The danger is hydraulic dams and pollution from farms, factories, and cities, the needs are clean water for oxygen and tall trees to shade parts of the stream.

During their stay in the sea,the salmon travel hundreds,or even thousand,of miles searching for food and trying to stay out of the mouths of predators.their needs are shrimp, and squid, to eat.

Once the salmon start upstream toward the spawning grounds, they do not feed but service energy from stored fats.the dangers are bear, coon, and sport fishermen.the needs are less water pollution less bears and less coons and loose gravel.

The salmon that make it back to their home streams to spawn have beaten amazing odds.on average, out of every 1,000 eggs laid
One survives to return and spawn. The dangers are diving birds king fishers and bears. The needs are loose gravel cool clean oxygenated water.

hunters water pollution

Article posted October 14, 2011 at 04:08 PM GMT • comment (1) • Reads 2033

The effects of water pollution are far reaching and affect not only the Enviroment, but human beings and animals as well. Water pollution affects our oceans, lakes, Rivers, and other water ways etc.

The food chain is damaged When toxins are in the water. The toxins travel from the water the animals drink to humans when the animals meat is eaten. How it happens is when the animal drinks the water toxins it spreads to the rest of the body then when we harvest the animal we eat the toxins then they spread to our body.

Farmland that is Irragated and treated with chemicals in the form of fertilizers or pesticides is a major contributor to water pollution.

urban areas have the potential to pollute water in many ways. Runoff from streets caries oil, rubber, heavy metals, and other contaminets from automobiles.

oceans the oceans sustain life on this planet. they effect and moderate tempatures and dramatically influence global climate. the oceans recycle and clean the air we breath.

The boat Joe griffin leaves port Fouchon, LOUISANNA. enters the GULF OF MEXICO carrying the dome containment rig meant to cap the leaking well so the oil will stop leaking into the ocean.

BP ( the company which was leasing the rig) will now try to lower this pollution control dome into place over one of the leaks, in order to catch the escaping oil .
