I agree that Mt St Helens will rebuild itself. The evidence that I have is Mt St Helens could or could not. The reason it might not is because it just erupted in 2004. It might rebuild itself again because it "grows", just like mount everest does.

I don't think Mt.St.Helens will erupt again because it a second time in 2004, so you never know when it might erupt.A ranger at Cispus even told us Mt.St.Helens is an active volcano.A lot of the mountain in 1980,and if it erupts again it could keep eroding. If this process repeats itself,Mt.St.Helens will never be the same.

I don't think it will look the same because it's been 31 years and there was barely anything growing back. And no because the only way possible that it could rebuild is if there was a tsunami it could push up the mountain and form it back witch won't likely happen.

I beleive that Mount Saint Helens will rebuild itself.Scientists say that Mount St. Helens has errupted before. If thats true than why did it look like a mountain instead of a volcano that errupted? The answe is:because it rebuilt itself!!Scientists say that Mount St. Helens is rebuilding itself all the time,24/7!If you went to Mount St. Helens, you saw the cloud of dust over the mountain. The park ranger there said that the cloud of dust came from rocks sliding down and rebuilding the mountain.Comments?

Mount St. Helen's is an active stratovolcano located in Skamania County, Washington, in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. It is 96 miles (154 km) south of Seattle, Washington and 50 miles (80 km) northeast of Portland, Oregon. Mount St. Helen's takes its English name from the British diplomat Lord St Helen's, a friend of explorer George Vancouver who made a survey of the area in the late 18th century.[1] The volcano is located in the Cascade Range and is part of the Cascade Volcanic Arc, a segment of the Pacific Ring of Fire that includes over 160 active volcanoes. This volcano is well known for its ash explosions and pyroclastic flows.

And the animals such as gophers are coming back. And plants are growing in through the rich volcanic soil life is coming back to the area .

Mount Saint Helens blew up in May 18 1980.
It made alot of ash which blocked out the sun.
Mount Saint Helens killed 57 people.
A stubborn man named Truman didn't leave his lodge during the volcano explosion, he said "Im not leaving my lodge no matter what happens" he died in his lodge by the volcano.
Mount Saint Helens top actually slid of by a 5.1 earthquake.
There was a mud slid after the eruption that filled the rivers. Spirit lake was filled with a lot of debris and was dissplaced from its original location, too two hundred feet in ellavation.
Mount Saint Helens is now a highly active volcano.

Mt. Saint Helens will rebuild itself through it's lave dome because after every eruption it has. The lava dome will get larger because the ash, lava, and previous formations run down the lava dome and gets larger after every eruption. In about 100 years it will rebuild its former glory. If it doesn't erupt like the last eruption in 1980.

Mt St Helens Could be as glamorous as it had been before the eruption. That is if it doesn't explode in the amount of time it will take it to recover from the blow that the area suffered. If it does erupt it will take so very much more time than it will take it now and even that will take a significant amount of time. But some animals find a way to be safe while not leaving their home. After the eruption stops and the animals that are still there would come out then later all the rest will come back.Things may be distroyed other things will grow back maybe not what was there before but some thing else that is wonderful!

i think there are sighns of life on mt st helens,There are many examples of life returning to Mt Saint Helens from the trees and plants that are all over the blast zone. Also in Meta Lake there are many trees as well as tadpoles, birds and fish. Deer are spotted at times, too.

the ash from the mountain rose 80,000 feet up in the air.57 people including thousands of animals were killed, and 30 were missing. people say the might of died or they were just badly injured.the damage that it made costed $2.74 billion dollars.

the eruption was preceded by a two-month series of earthquakes and steam-venting episodes, caused by a injection by magma and shallow depth below the volcano that created a huge buldge and fracture system on mt st helens north slope.

My evidence comes to the answer that it will come back to its original state because the lava dome is re-building it. Another piece of evidence is that the gas and pressure is building, causing the dome to rise and it is estimated to look close to what it did in 1980 in about 200 years (give or take a few).

I think mt saint Helens will eventually rebuild itself. Beause with most of my research in movies and books about mt saint helens. One fact is thet mt saint helens is etestamated to grow about 1inch per day, another fact is that if the fact about one inch per day is correct mt saint helens grows 30 feet per year and 300hundred feet every year. So mt saint helens WILL GROW BACK.

briannew -- Will Mt. St. Helens look the same?

I think Mt. St. Helens might be able to rebuild itself depending on if erupts. If it keeps on erupting it won't get a chance to rebuild. If it doesn't erupt it will take about 140.5 years to go back to it's normal state. The reason it will take so long to rebuild is because it has to rebuild 4,213 feet of rock. You are probably thinking how could Mt. St. Helens rebuild itself? It grows over 1 inch every day. That's 300 feet every 10 years. That's a lot!

I predict that Mount St Helens will return to the way it was before the eruption, because plants and animals and trees are coming back to live there. About the part of the mountain that fell of in the big eruption, I believe that someday, either the peice that remained in the eruption will blow off in another eruption, the cause being it would be the same, but it would be a smaller volcano, or the rocks would pile up again and make themselves somlid again to re-create the "illusion" at least that the volcano was back to normal. As for the wild-life, yes, I do think that they will return back like before.
