blog challenge week 10

Article posted May 16, 2012 at 03:33 PM GMT • comment • Reads 934

In all of my blogs so far i have 16 all together. 3 of them are based on me. 10 are based on the blog challenge. The rest are on school. I recevied 17 comments all together so far. 14 of my comments are from kids from our school. 3 of the comments are from kids not from here. My favorite post was 7 random facts because I didn't have to think. My 7 random facts received the most comments I think that it did because its my oldest blog. I have never changed any of the blog themes. I dont have any widgets. I don't like them.

force of friction

Article posted May 15, 2012 at 03:21 PM GMT • comment • Reads 789

Friction is a force used in almost everything. Friction can create heat. Friction can create energy. For example friction can be like two pieces of sandpaper rubbing together. Friction can change things, like if you rub to coarse things together its going to be harder to move. But on the other hand if you move to slippery things together it will be easier to move and create less friction. In 6.1 we tested pulling blocks across differnt surfaces to see how much friction needed to pull the blocks. In 6.2 I learned that if you change the weight of the thing your pulling the more friction will be used to pull it. In 6.3 we changed the surface area. We flipped the blocks on to their differnt lenghts and on the short side of the block the sand paper wont create any friction so it just fell over.

MSP is not helpfull for kids

Article posted May 4, 2012 at 03:28 PM GMT • comment • Reads 1354

I don't think the MSP has any help to the kids. Beacause the test is just using the kids to see if the school is doing well enough. If the government wants to see how the school is doing the teachers should get tested. They would get to know how the teachers are teaching and how they handle bad behavior and if they failed they would get replaced by state teachers. The number one school only has one test a year and less days of school and shorter days.

rubber band and a cart

Article posted April 25, 2012 at 03:34 PM GMT • comment (2) • Reads 947

we are doing a science proect on forces and energy. One of our science questions is how to make a cart go with just a rubber band. My first way of trying would be to tie the rubber band to the cart and pull the rubber band back and let go and the cart will go forward. This would be using elastic force. Theres many other ways to mke the cart go and you can figure that out your own. The difference between mass and weight is mass is the amount of the product and weight is the amount of the mass weighed.

Energy

Article posted April 17, 2012 at 03:30 PM GMT • comment • Reads 1036

In 2010 we use loads more energy than we used to use. We don't have enough trees to absorb the carbon dioxide that the houses emit.
Insulation conserves energy by keeping heat/cold inside so you don't have to use a heater or AC.
I learned to be safe with energy to keep the electrical sockets enclosed. I learned to stay away from electricity when you have water.
Fuels like gasoline pollute the earth. But fuels like vegetable oil fuel don't pollute the earth.

charging a battery

Article posted March 23, 2012 at 03:04 PM GMT • comment (3) • Reads 1016

We had a science experament to charge a battery. First we charged it to light a bulb. We charged it for 3 minuets then the light bulb lit for about 10 minuets before the battery ran out of energy. The next day we charged the dead battery again for 3 minuets. Then instead of the light bulb we hooked it up to a motor. It ran for about 7 minuets that means the motor needs more energy than the bulb. Batterys have electrical energy in them. Batterys store chemical energy. When we hooked the light bulb up to the battery it conducted light energy. Some bstterys make heat energy off the the light bulb wich is a fire hazard. Mechanical energy is a battery powering mechanics.

My battery

Article posted March 19, 2012 at 03:31 PM GMT • comment • Reads 1196

We made a homemade battery and it worked okay. We used a strip of copper and zinc and a piece of blotter paper in the middle. So then we bent the tips of the copper and zinc in opposite directions and the blotter paper was straight. Then we attached the two wires with a lightbulb on the end with masking tap. Then we dipped the unbent ends of the battery in the copper sulfate solution and the lightbulb light up, only half way though. We successfully made a battery.

KW batteries

Article posted March 13, 2012 at 04:30 PM GMT • comment (1) • Reads 1122

K= what i know about batteries is they conduct energy into a device to give it power. But after so long the batteries will run out of power. They have rechargeable batteries now.

W=what i want to learn  is how you recharge batteries and how there made.
