What was the highest number of washers our motors lifted?
We lifted a highest of nine.
What configuration of motor, batteries, string, wires, etc. accounted for the highest numbers of washers lifted?
We need to put our batteries in series, have three batteries, put the string on the nail, have two wires and have a short string.
Can this lift more than nine washers?
It should be able to lift more than nine washers.

Friction Force

What have you learned about friction in lesson 6, Inquiries 6.1, 6.2, and 6.3?
6.1: I learned that if you slide a block across a rough surface there is more friction.
6.2:I learned that if there is more weight that your pulling then there is more friction force.
6.3: I learned that if you change the surface area then the friction force varies.
How did you measure sliding friction in the labs you did in class?
We measured the sliding friction in newtons.
What did you learn about controlled variables? Give examples of how you controlled variables during your labs.
I learned that controlled variables are things that you don't change during your test. In our labs we kept the sliding speed the same in all of the labs. Controlled variables are things that you do not mess with.

You can pull the cart.
You can use a slingshot to fling the cart.
What is the difference between mass and weight?
Mass is what is inside the object. Weight is how much the earth is pulling down the object.

What did you learn about how much energy we use in the 2010's?
I learned that in the 1930's the average of Carbon Dioxide Emission was 153. In the 2010's we used 964 pounds of Carbon Dioxide Emission. That is a 811 difference.
How does insulation help you conserve energy?
It makes it so less heat goes into the room. So you don't have to waste as much energy turning down the thermometer.
What are some things you learned about being safe with electricity?
You should never put a fork in a toaster or near an outlet. Never put drag something by its cord and never put something heavy over a cord.
Which fuels put less carbon into our atmosphere?
Electrical things don't give out carbon dioxide into the air. Things that are engine powered give out carbon dioxide.

Charging Battery

When the battery is charging, the charger is taking energy from the outlet and giving the battery its stored chemical energy. When the battery is hooked up to the lightbulb the energy goes from stored chemical energy to electrical energy in the wires but then when the energy goes into the lightbulb the energy transforms from electrical energy to light and heat energy.

I know some stuff about batteries. I know that they have acid, the acid is corrosive, batteries need metal, you can make batteries out of food. I want to know the cycle of the energy and the other types of energy. I learned that there are many types of energy (Mechanical energy, Light energy, Heat energy, Stored chemical energy and Electrical energy). I learned that Carbon Dioxide is what comes out of energy.

My Town

The town I live in is Chimacum. It is very rainy and sunny off and on. If you live by the water then you don't get much snow during the winter. There are great sight seeing spots and there are great restaurants. Chimacum is a great place to visit, you should visit it some time.
