Here's a sample of what 8th graders finished learning before winter break. We used compound microscopes and digital microscopes to discover whether all lving things are indeed made of cells. We tried to find evidence that the things we found were living things by seeing if they had all the characteristics of living things that we came up with together.

These are pictures of Paramecium they are swimming around in water this is evidence that they are living! Me and my class had a vial full of them and we used an microscope and studied them watching them move also watching them eat! What my teacher Mr. Gonzalez did was die the yeast that they eat red and put it with the Paramecium. To see if they ate the yeast we looked to see if they had red on them. There was a problem that some of the water absorbed the red die so it was kind of red but if we looked good enough we saw that they did eat some! Me and my partner Hadlei got an Elodea sample to see if we could find any but our sample was infested with Paramecium! There was so much and when i went to look over our video I didnt really see any Elodea although my teacher got e video of Elodea moving i did not! But look at my video and see how much Paramecium there is!

While my group was looking through our microscope we saw a lot of paramisiam they moved a lot and they also ate. What we did not notice that the blobs all over the place were the things we were looking for, amoeba they did not move at all but our seience teacher taped one and when it was fast forwarded it moved all over the screen

I believe that Paramecia are single celled organisms that can live on their own without having to be attached to something to survive or get life support off of another living organism. Paramecia are very cool! They are very interesting to look at under the microscope because you can see right through them, they look like very little stretched out ovals. The Paramecia move by using their hair like arms to move through their environment. When my group put red food dye in the tray that held them you could watch the Paramecia eat it so it turned the inside of the Paramecia red. The liquid was red to be able to tell if the Paramecia could eat on their own. This is what I've learned so far about Paramecia.

Paramecia is a microscopic living organism that eats bread.it also lives in water.They move evereywhere in all directions. We had difficulties trying to absurve the paramecia because they move quick.they look like little clear bubbles that are shaped like little squggles.also they can reproduce by eating food they just get cut in half lath wise and then there are 2 of them and the multiply like crazy andnthen you'll have a hole cup of microscopic paramecia.

My team was studying paramecium under a digital microscope. We found evidence of movement. the video we filmed shows at the beginning paramecium moving around, here it is.
It's a little fast.

This is a hilarious video of our amoeba!! Bear with me and watch it, its starts slow but is really cool(:
Our amoeba look like seagull poo. I time lapsed the video, it took me almost an hour. By speeding up the video, you can see what we noramlly cant. If you stare at the amoeba, it seems like you cannot relize they are moving, but, they do!!

Paramicia is a living organism we had a chance to look at them underneath the microscope it was a great opurtunity to see what living organisms eat and do we observed that they move around a lot and at times it was hard to observe. they look like white long blobs, i learned a lot about them and hope i can in the future our team enjoyed seeing what they did we even got to see them eating a piece of bread, we didn't really know what it was but they were sure enjoying it! hopefully we will spend more time looking at microscopic organisms.

when we looked at our minipond it looked really scummy we added a leaf to it wich was really cool to look at. when we took a wet mound of pond substance and looked at it under the microscope, sadly i could not find anything but hopefully i will have another chance to but from what other people had it looked really interesting.

In class we have been studying parameciums. Me and my partner had to find proof that they are really living.We found out that they are living because they have a few elements like moving and eating. We had feed them yeast but we died it red and they absorbed it.
