For me at odyssey it was really fun there were up and downs but overall I learned a lot, my most favorite activity was when we went to sol duc springs I had never been there and it was really cool to get to swim in the hot springs it was almost slimy and stunk like rotten eggs but it felt good :) something that was not so fun for me was doing the trip books I understand they are for educational purposes and they want you to learn things but maybe shortening it a little would have been better having to worry about filling it out every place we went and I would suggest for next time having more camp activities and maybe less hikes I like hiking and everything but to much can put me over the limit. The places we went were the hoh rainforest, marymere falls, sol duc falls, elwah dam, cape flattery and the realto beach we also went to a makah museum etc. but again it was an amazing experience and I hope all the future eighth graders will have as much fun as I did.

I think snails are really interesting animals I don't know that much about them but some little facts I know are that salt or sugar can kill them just like slugs. Also they are old insects probaly about 600 million years old, so that wasn't that much information but I still want to learn more about them I hope I have a chance to experiment and learn about them

Radishes in: Blacklight VS Sunlight!

Me and the three other people in my team decided to see how radishes grow in different lighting. Blacklight (uv- light) VS sunlight. All of us had different ideas on what we thought would happen, all of us exept one thought that they would grow best under the blacklight (uv). The other thought the sunlight would be best. So in the end the blaklight radishes turned out taller but they were droopy and the leafs were different than the sunlight radishes. We belived the blacklight might have made the radishes deformed or messed up. The ones in the sunlight grew really well and bigger and more healthier. Even tho the blacklight/uv-light had smaller wave lenghts, meaning more energy, it still didnt have the healthy growth outcome the sunlight did.

for our bacteria lab we decided on swabbing the girls bathroom toliet seats the cafeteria tables, band room and boys bathroom we picked these places becuase we were predicting those places would have the nost bacteria. the results we came out with the next day is that the cafeteria got the most bacteria but for the others we found nothing. i thought it was really cool that we got to learn and grow bacteria i learned a lot and hope some day i can learn more about it.

the steps of mitoses is first interphase cells usually dont look active in this stage this is the longest cell cycle, prophase is next the nucleas fades and condenses into chromosones. promophase is when nuclear envelope breaks the metaphase is when the tension fibers slighn all chromosones. the anaphase makes the spindle fibers shorten. telophase is the daughter of all chromosones arrive at the poles the last step is cakotinesis is the spindle fiber are not attached to chromosones begin breaking down.

when we looked at our minipond it looked really scummy we added a leaf to it wich was really cool to look at. when we took a wet mound of pond substance and looked at it under the microscope, sadly i could not find anything but hopefully i will have another chance to but from what other people had it looked really interesting.

Paramicia is a living organism we had a chance to look at them underneath the microscope it was a great opurtunity to see what living organisms eat and do we observed that they move around a lot and at times it was hard to observe. they look like white long blobs, i learned a lot about them and hope i can in the future our team enjoyed seeing what they did we even got to see them eating a piece of bread, we didn't really know what it was but they were sure enjoying it! hopefully we will spend more time looking at microscopic organisms.

Expeirimenting with yeast

The answer to our which was how do different liquids affect yeast? we concluded that liquids and chemicals mixed with the yeast caused a doughy smell to the drinks. the most effective liquid to the yeast was the coca cola soda it caused the most foulest odor.
Our evidence was the change of water levels and smells, we observed that the liquids and smells caused the liquid with most odor already, caused the most foulest smell. our sugar water vial smelled the most like yeast but the salt water smelled like rotten yeast.
The errors or inaccuracies that happened was we didn't exactly plan the yeast data and collecting and forgot to get balloons to measure and collect data.
We observed that overtime the liquids got more and more disgusting smelling and that the yeast pretty much sent off doughy smells to all the liquids.
I understand that the yeast did affect the liquids in smell and appearance, and i think i learned a lot about yeast.
some questions i have for our expeirement is....
why did the yeast stay on the bottom the whole time?
why did some of the vials lose water and not gain it?
why in some vials were bubbles gathered at the surface.

Environment

The environment gives organisms life and so they will be healthy for our organisms we had fresh water we found that our brine shrimp tried to hatch but could not and just died Because they need salt water. They appeared not living because when we looked under the microscope their was one sigh of a hatched egg.
here are some questions i have
why do we eat yeast if it is living?
why did the orbeez grow more in the sugar water than the real water?
why did the seeds grow so fast?
for future expeiriments it would be cool to work with more living organisms.
