The idea that young people do not vote has been around for a long time i think. It seems that the people that do vote are generally older people. I see many campaigns that are directed at older folks because they think they will vote. I think that is a problem because i believe my vote counts. All the tools available to us today it shocks me that there is not more news or ways to get younger voters out and about to vote. I have just started to see online ads for certain parties and some facebook ads as well. I think they should aggressively pursue those methods. I would more than likely attend a debate if a party posted on facebook or twitter “Debate MTS center this weekend 9pm" as opposed to hearing something about it on CJOB once during the morning. I feel as a young voter we are the future and we should be the ones heavily campaigned towards. I think it is unfair that most of issues are addressed are of older citizens, it would be nice to see more issues that affect whole communities not just a few folks. I feel it is important to consider the fact that younger people are raising families and are generally paving the way of tomorrow.
