Title: Poetry (04/24/12)
Description: We looked closely at several free verse poems and how the author used sensory language to help the reader visualize. Then we took a persona narrative with a strong emotion and wrote a small moment from it in free verse.

That was a shot!

Racing down the ice,

Sweat trickling down my face,

Motioning for a shot,

The puck taking a victory lap around the net,

My face shown as if playing poker,

Tight hugs from my friends,

I scored!

I-Gift!

So determind to get it,

Wishing with all my might,

Knew I could do it.

Went upstairs all sad,

I had a feeling I was going to get it,

The next second it was in my hand!

My I-pad

Getting excited.

Excitment

It's going through my veins, my adrenaline is pumping as soon as I enter Madison Square Garden.

I see my favorite wrestlers win the matches.

I hope to come again to see my favorite wrestlers win once again.

 Empty Sideline

It was last year

The St. Vito's tournament

When the final buzzer went off,

Our sideline was empty.

We won it all!

I said to myself,

"Wow!"

Just wow.

Why wow?

The season before,

Our record was 1-15!

Distracted by the ease

The sweet smell of candy

The hard core metal crushes the bone

My foot meets the platform

Each bone squished against the rickets

The metal slowy releases back.

Fright

Waking,

Made me scared.

Looking for the signs,

Of strange activity.

When I was at school,

I ran

To the school door

And had to survive the rest of school

frightened

 Stealer

He stole my stuff

I do not know why

Do you?

I was really mad

I thought he was my friend

He stole my erasers

I dont think hes my friend anymore

He lies in front of my face

He left to a different school

He's out of my life

And my stuff is back

Spring!

I feel the fresh breeze on my face

I feel the sun beaming on my face

Bees are buzzing around

Ouch!

I see flowers sprouting

It's not summer or fall nor winter

What season is it?

No way!

I can’t believe it…

It’s white

It’s a rectangle shape

It has buttons

It has a screen

It can even take pictures

You can play games on it

It’s a...

Water Slide

Should I go on?

Or should I go somewhere else?

I should go on.

I am on.

Now I have to put on my seat belt.

I am going up.

Now I am scared.

It's going up.

Now it's going down.

Fast

Screaming

Now I am wet.

WATER SLIDE.

First Day...

Excited,

No,

Scared.

No, that's not right, I was feeling brave!

That's how I felt the first day at M.A.S.

In the back seat of the car

Not knowing what to expect

It seemed so lonesome

Teachers getting ready to start the new year

Saw kids running,

Hugging,

Meeting up with friends

I felt all by myself,

No one to lean on

My mom walked me up to my class room

I reached my class room

Took a deep breth,

And walked in

I didn't know what to do

I found my seat

I worked from there

And look at me now!

I feel like M.A.S is my home!

Great friends,

In the school play,

And much more.

Surprise!

Lights off,

On a soft,

Puffy,

Cloud.

Closing my eyes,

About to dream,

Peacefully.

Sleeping,

I hear a Creek.

It stops.

Mind scared,

Body shaking,

Like a cat.

BOOOOOO!

Terrified,

Screamed.

SURPRISE!

Brothers.

Scared

Fear controls my body, running around in my veins.

I scream in fear, run in the darkness.

I escape for another day!

Near Death Experience

PLEASE EXIT THE DOME!

THE DOME IS COLLAPPSING!

Tention runs through my body.

Fear is holding my body in place.

In a split second, my fun soccer game turns dangerous.

My friend's family and I speed walked to the main exit.

The exit was crowded with panicing people.

My friend pushed me through the revolving doors. People were squished like cockroaches.

I was free.

WHAT A RELIEF!

Chinese

I open my book

My nightmare awaits me

CHINESE

I feel my blood boiling

I see those cursed words

They creep into my brain

Wandering forever in my brain

Ugh, CHINESE
